What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct secondary clinical chart reviews to identify missed opportunities and ensure accurate principal diagnosis selection
- Collaborate with the Coding Department and Clinical Documentation Specialists to resolve discrepancies in DRG assignments
- Communicate findings from secondary reviews to relevant staff for follow-up actions
- Analyze and interpret clinical data to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in documentation
- Educate physicians to enhance understanding of the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) program and ensure accurate coding
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be a Professional Registered Nurse with an Associate’s, Diploma, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Current Illinois RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of technical experience in a clinical setting
- Demonstrated broad clinical knowledge base necessary for reviewing various medical records
- Exceptional communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification in Clinical Documentation Improvement or Coding preferred
