Job Description

- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years of relevant experience in developing algorithms and a working knowledge of computational complexity analysis.(coursework, internships , Research and Co-ops included)
- 1+ years of relevant experience in developing end-to-end wireless communications systems. (coursework, internships , Research and Co-ops included)
- 1+ years of experience in at least one of the following: SLAM, control of (non)-holonomic dynamic systems, pattern matching and recognition, use of DNNs for perception. (coursework, internships , Research and Co-ops included)
- 3+ years of experience with programming languages such as C++ and Python (coursework, internships , Research and Co-ops included)
- Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- Proven innovativeness through research publication in AI/perception/robotics-related topics
- Business acumen and comfortable analyzing financial viability of projects
- Strong written and oral skills along with the ability to communicate ideas to those who may have limited theoretical background in the area
- Ability to work both independently as well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to deliver results and be nimble to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Wireless network design and control for efficient organization and backhaul of data across many disparate sources
- Coordination of multiple wireless protocols in unison to enable safety-critical closed-loop systems
- Standards development for maintaining communication API's with the vehicle
- Planning, controlling and coordinating the motion of a heterogenous fleet of robots in semi-structured and dynamic environments with distributed sensing
- Using advanced compute systems to solve scheduling problems
- Object/people classification/recognition in environments with non-uniform lighting and incorporating associated models of uncertainty in motion planning and interaction decision making
- Vision-based safety enhancement/enforcement in industrial settings
- Visual inspection of vehicles for abnormality detection/identification
Robotics Research Engineer
As part of Ford Motor Company’s Research & Advanced Engineering division, Digital Systems develops and implements cutting-edge technologies that will transform our business to help build a better world, where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams. Our team develops integrated hardware and software solutions leveraging state-of-the-art technologies for both internal and customer-facing applications. As vehicles become more autonomous, we want to deliver better ways for vehicles to drive efficiently and harmoniously with each other, the environment, and the traffic flows. To accomplish this goal, we need to combine ADAS, traffic data, road data, high speed communications and user experience.
The Automation team is seeking an innovative Robotics Research Engineer to develop and implement robotic solutions to assist in transforming Ford’s businesses. Specifically, this engineer will be responsible for developing vehicle platforms that enable safety-critical closed-loop wireless connections between vehicles and infrastructure
