Must be available for evening and weekend events primarily on Friday and Saturday nights.

Job Summary
The Sales Attendant, Concessions serves customers, takes payment, and prepares food at concession counters for Athletics & Recreation (A&R) events. These events create a fast paced, exciting environment and the opportunity to provide excellent customer service to our guests.
Organizational Status
Athletics & Recreation (A&R) is a department within the VP Students portfolio, with a strong focus on creating an exceptional UBC student experience. The A&R Department has a team of approximately 125 employees, and is led by a strong cross-unit management team. It services over 60,000 students through recreational programming, 26 varsity teams, 13 competitive club teams, along with thousands of members of the UBC community.
Work Performed
1. Takes and makes suggestions for customer food orders at counter; prepares and calculates bills for payment.
2. Enters customer orders in computer or cash register and accepts payment via cash, meal plan card, bonus cards, vouchers, debit, or credit card; distributes change & receipts as required, and cashes out as per policy.
3. Recommends food inventory levels and calls in approved orders; assists in maintaining inventory.
4. Assists cooks in the preparation of food as needed, including portioning, plating, wrapping, and packaging food items.
5. Prepares, plates, portions and dispenses food to customers in a serving line in accordance with policy or franchise standards.
6. Sets up service counter and replenishes supplies for sale, ensuring appropriate stock levels and proper stock rotation in refrigeration, storage and counter display units.
7. Cleans and maintains work area and related service stations, including light sweeping and mopping.
8. Assesses and ensures quality of finished product prior to serving customer.
9. Performs the duties of other food service workers on a relief basis as operationally required.
10. Maintains proper standards of sanitation and safety in accordance with FoodSafe, UBC policy and safety guidelines.
11. Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.

Makes minor decisions related to sequence of duties. Errors may negatively impact customer experience.
Supervision Received
Works independently under general supervision.
Supervision Given
None. May assist in training new employees or guide student workers.
Minimum Qualifications
Grade 10, Food Safe certificate and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
