      Sales Development Manager

      Major Responsibilities

      • Develops, communicates, and implements sales growth strategies with targeted customers or channels to achieve assigned sales or share targets. Assists sales associates in the development of assigned vendor business opportunities with targeted accounts. Manages the relationship between sales managers and associates to build and execute strategic account penetration plans for Proctor & Gamble.
      • Serves as central point of contact for vendor-related issues, supplier programs, and sales opportunities. Serves as subject matter expert for assigned vendor’s products and programs for internal and external customers.
      • Effectively engages with customers, account managers, and vendor associates to drive awareness of activities and customer needs. Engages with internal and vendor sales management to identify sales opportunities and obtain alignment on objectives and metrics. Provides input into product and promotional plans with responsibility for execution at the assigned account or channel level. Builds consensus on plan ownership with key stakeholders.
      • Manages tactical implementation of initiatives by coordinating cross-functional and external resources as needed to drive tactical meetings. Secures and executes training and resourcing of key internal and customer/vendor events. Tracks and promotes performance of category channel development efforts through regular documented updates and initiative overviews.
      • Negotiates incremental funding to drive vendor-aligned initiatives focusing on specific customers or channels. Identifies emerging customer/supplier opportunities that align with organizational strategic direction. Manages allocation, commitment, and reconciliation of assigned discretionary funding.
      • Serves as deployable resource to engage with key customers on joint Essendant /Supplier strategies, programs, and initiatives. Travels to select key customers, trade shows, and supplier/industry events.
      • Researches market to determine an understanding of market share, levers to gain and shift share. Also, knows market price and competitiveness in channels in which are targeted and works with Pricing team to establish competitive pricing programs.
      • Form effective cross-functional relationships with a broad cross-section of internal partners as well as key customers.
      • With Category managers plan allocation of supplier marketing funding and negotiation of incremental funding to support execution of Category Marketing initiatives.
      • Outbound sales targeted at recruiting and expanding existing IT VAR partners
      • Understands and demonstrates Essendant’s Core Values.
      • Performs other duties as assigned

      Skills/Knowledge Required

      • Self-directed with high level of accountability; strong analytical and communication skills.
      • Good strategic, analytical, planning, organizing and problem solving capabilities.
      • Knowledge of JanSan industry trends.
      • Strong presentation skills (must be able to present to management-level audiences of internal and external customers).
      • Occasional travel required (up to 20%).

      Education and Experience

      • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in marketing or business-related field, or relevant experience
      • Minimum five (5) years of experience.

      Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000
