      Position Overview:

      The Sales Manager for Mining serves as the senior customer-facing representative, playing a key role in driving equipment and parts sales across both the Syncrude and Suncor mine sites. You will hold contributory responsibility for parts and service revenues ranging from $200 to $300 million annually, along with direct accountability for equipment sales projected to exceed $700 million over the next eight years. In collaboration with branch management, this role is instrumental in developing and executing strategic business plans to achieve revenue, expense, and profitability targets. The manager leads and supports health and safety initiatives, fosters strategic customer relationships, and consistently represents the company with professionalism and integrity. A key aspect of the role involves recognizing when and how to leverage internal and external resources efficiently to maximize operational effectiveness. Additionally, the manager plays a vital role in cultivating a positive and productive work environment aligned with Finning’s business objectives. Responsibilities also include preparing accurate and timely forecasts, pricing strategies, quality assessments, estimates, market intelligence, and maintaining comprehensive customer insights.

      Job Description:

      Major Job Functions:

      • Supporting the achievement of targets for revenue, profitability and asset management. Growing the market share of Caterpillar mining equipment, product support and technology (40%)
      • Develop short (less than 2 years), medium (2-5 year) and long range (5-10 years) strategic equipment and product support plans that align to the customer’s mine plans. These plans would including equipment and service forecasts, pricing, quality, estimates, and market intelligence (20%)
      • Maintain sound long-term relationships with the customer base as well as Caterpillar and Finning (10%)
      • Representing Finning in planned and ad-hoc Customer meetings, seminars, etc. in areas of expertise in order to assist in Sales and Product Support activities, plus strategic initiatives (10%)
      • Strategic management of all aspects of the effectiveness and efficiency of the sales force including recruitment, coaching, development and mentorship (10%)

      Education & Experience

      • Post-secondary education in a business, marketing, management discipline or a relevant trade certification
      • Minimum 1 0+ years of progressive strategic or management experience in a mining environment
      • Business Acumen, financial, accounting, budgeting and forecasting knowledge and familiar with related best practices and processes
      • Understanding of the Mining industry as a whole, competitors, and customer businesses.
      • Finning’s products, services, processes and industry segments, Customer service commitment, Leadership in action program and Cat dealer relationship
      • Comprehensive understanding of the equipment repair and overhaul business and sales and marketing knowledge
      • Strong knowledge of the Finning sales processes
      • Team builder with the ability to work with employees and business leaders of different levels throughout internal and external organizations
      • Time management, prioritization, project management and independent problem solving skills
      • Solid organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills
