Job Description

- Maintain a clean and tidy working environment within the laboratory
- Work according to Health and Safety requirements
- Be aware of customer requirements at all times
- Maintain sample integrity and chain of custody
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and highlight any changes required
- Monitor fridge/ freezer temperatures
- Calibrate pipettes and balances
- Prepare and validate QC material
- Ensure laboratory records are maintained
- Enter interpretation of screening results and sign off customer reports
- Provide worklist for pH, specific gravity and adulterations confirmations plus error reading
- Dispose of negative screening samples
- Transfer positive samples into confirmation tray
- Preparation of casework samples using CEDIA and SPE (manual and automated)
- Analysis of casework samples using GC-MS, GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS
- Ensuring analytical data conforms to quality standards
- Routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory systems and equipment
- Input data onto an internal case management system
- Maintain the consumable stock and promptly order any replacements
- Assist in other sections of the laboratory, when necessary
- Assist in method development and validation projects
- Take an active role in continuous improvement within the team
- Able to troubleshoot methods in a timely manner
- Detect and raise quality charts trends.

- Previous experience in Workplace Drug Testing
- Previous experience in Cloned Enzyme Donor Immunoassay (CEDIA)
- Previous experience in sample preparation techniques e.g. SPE
- Previous experience in GC-MS, GC-MS/MS or LC-MS/MS using Chemstation, Xcalibur, ToxLab or Tracefinder.
- IT literate including Word, Excel and Outlook.

The Role
Screening and Confirmation Analysts are responsible for the analysis of drugs of abuse in urine, oral fluid and hair samples under the direction of a reporting scientist or senior scientist. Main duties include:
