Job Description
- Req#: 1402
- Coordinates and drives the regular 'ceremonies' that take place in the agile framework - including but not limited to sprint planning, daily stand up, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives.
- Facilitates the adoption of agile practices and methodologies within the technology team.
- Educates and coaches the team on best practices related to scrum or software development lifecycles.
- Encourages cross-collaboration within the technology organization to help ensure that the team is not working in silos.
- Identifies areas of opportunity within the software development lifecycle to improve team performance, velocity and throughput
- Assists in removing team-level impediments and resolve conflicts
- Partners closely with product management to ensure that sprint cycles are adhering to the overall enterprise roadmap
- Ensures the team maintains focus on quality and continuous delivery through the regular sprint cycles
- Assists product management with grooming and backlog refinement practices to ensure that tickets are appropriately sized and estimated with the engineering team before a sprint cycle takes place
- Helps to define team norms and values that the team can rely on for consistent 'ways of working'.

- Proficient PC skills required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills required.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving.
- Atlassian Experience required (JIRA, Confluence)
- Bachelor's degree and strong academic credentials required.
- Minimum of 5 years scrum master experience required.
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification preferred.
- Sitting for extended periods of time, including, without limitation, in office settings, and during air travel.
- Computer use, with or without adaptable software

Role Description:
The Scrum Master serves to facilitate the agile framework and practice called scrum to the larger engineering team at bbqguys.com. The Scrum Master is responsible for educating and introducing best practices to the team and drives key ceremonies (or activities) like sprint planning, retrospectives, and more. The Scrum Master helps to ensure that we are working through sprint cycles in an effective and streamlined manner while helping the teams embrace and evolve to new ways of working. The scrum master role will interface directly with engineering and quality assurance managers, product managers, and other individual contributors regularly and needs to be able to influence positive momentum and change without direct authority.
