Ensures conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development, and coordination activities
As needed, conducts research and aids in the implementation of curriculum resources that meet state standards for Social Studies
Support the instructional development of all teachers
Support teachers with utilization of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment documents including curriculum map and scope and sequence documents
Collaborate with assistant principal and district instructional facilitator to develop, plan, and facilitate professional learning communities
Use data for planning and facilitating grade band data analysis professional learning community
Support and monitor instructional use of platforms (Canvas, Jigsaw, Illuminate, and curriculum/supplemental platforms)
Build Canvas course(s) using the blueprint
Set up and monitor Canvas calendar set up
Ensure compliance of weekly lesson plan submission
Review the completion of lesson plans and provide constructive feedback
Conduct non-evaluative walkthroughs of instructional delivery and provide timely feedback
Collaborate and sync instructional delivery visits with instructional facilitators
Attend instructional planning and observation debriefing sessions with Curriculum Coordinator and/or instructional facilitators
Review interim assessments (district benchmarks) and provide instructional feedback to Curriculum Coordinator
Attend district focus walks
Monitor execution of data action plans and provide timely feedback
Liaison instructional requests and distribution (materials, platforms, supplies) to Curriculum Coordinator
Support local education agency (LEA) by attend meetings and completing required expectations
Conduct weekly open offices to support grade band content team
Cover instructional class periods in absence of teacher
Support grade level chairs with module content creation updates (verify content, due dates, structure, etc)
Support substitute teachers
Covers classes as needed
Attend trainings for curriculum and instruction resources
Supporting teachers with completion of tasks such as testing preparation
Facilitate one-on-one meetings with teachers
Ensures that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education and other categorical programs
Assists with the development and oversees implementation of the school’s student achievement plan and works with the academic team to implement the plan
Assists with parent and student concerns and issues relative to curriculum and instruction
Assists in the coordinating and implementing of school meetings
Conducts teacher informal walkthroughs and observations in an effort to improve student achievement.
Provides timely feedback to teachers relative to the content of classroom observations
Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students
Works collaboratively with other administrators and the curriculum team to ensure quality instruction and improved student achievement
Facilitates trainings and conversations about student growth data and progress towards academic achievement (i.e. Data meetings & Professional Learning Communities)
Assists in the review and interview process of potential candidates
Attends all required training by the Georgia Department of Education and GCA
Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal and/or Principal
Performs other duties as assigned by Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Director, K-12 Curriculum & Instructional Programs Assistant Director, and/or Superintendent

This is a Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, 5 days/week, and is Primarily Remote.
This position may require traveling up to 25% of the time. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
During critical periods, additional in-office days may be required.
In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and testing sites will be required several times per year.

SUMMARY: The Secondary Grade Band CTAE Academic Coach’s chief responsibilities are to assist with the overall quality of instruction provided by classroom teachers. These responsibilities include but are not limited to informal classroom observations and feedback, model lessons, support with lesson planning, assistance with instructional platforms, and data analysis from various sources. The academic coach for curriculum and instruction works closely with the principal, assistant principal, and other administrators to ensure the quality of classroom instruction is conducive to producing high student achievement.
