Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Secretary to join our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive secretarial support service to the Regional Head of Specialist Operations, HART implementation manager and supporting Managers/Officers.
Applicants must hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English along with a Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration (or equivalent) along with recent relevant secretarial / administration experience

If this position involves a regulated activity it will require an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. The disclosure will, where appropriate to the role, include information against the Independent Safeguarding Authority barred lists for working with children, adults or both
Where a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is required for the post, all applicants are required to cover the cost of the check. Provides full secretarial support service to the relevant Managers as above.
Prepares correspondence, reports, memos, orders, etc. using a word processor.
Screens telephone calls and personal visitors.
Opens and sorts daily post and initiates routine correspondence.
Resolves routine enquiries, taking messages and pursuing follow-up action as necessary.
Maintains diaries for the relevant Managers.
Maintains records, files and data systems relating to a range of matters and input and access data from computer systems.
Arranges and attends meetings in order to take minutes/notes.
Production of notes/minutes, reports and specifications, etc.
Liaises with other WMAS Departments and staff as required.
Works in accordance with documented procedures to ensure full compliance with Total Quality Management Systems.
Undertakes any other duties that may be required from time to time and are commensurate with the level of the post.
Provides secretarial cover for Secretary to Assistant Directors of Operations during sickness and annual leave
