      Summary
      The Senior Associate for Global Development Policy will support the Global Development Policy Team in their advocacy efforts with the federal government on a range of global development issues. You will be responsible for managing a variety of analytical, research, policy development and government relations projects related to priority areas of U.S. global development policy. Reporting to the Managing Director of Global Development Policy, you will work with members of the Global Development Policy team as well as others in the Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns (PAC) division, programmatic and research staff in International Programs (IP), and external coalitions and NGO partners.

      What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
      Conduct policy research and analysis in support of the Global Development team’s policy priorities (40%)
      • Conduct research and analysis in response to legislative and/or Administration action related to SCUS’ global dev policy priorities.
      • Support legislative analysis.
      • Support development of policy and advocacy products for Save the Children, including those targeting U.S. policy makers, including developing materials such as one-pager fact sheets, issue summaries, and other documents.
      • Support analysis of policy positions/reports generated by coalition partners, aligned NGOs and other organizations to inform Save the Children U.S.’s policy positions.

      Provide political analysis support to the Global Development Team (30%)
      • Track and keep team updated on Congressional and Administration policy developments including hearings, bill introductions, committee business meetings, agency announcements and other developments as needed.
      • Monitor and update team on secondary policy areas that connect to SCUS policy priorities or our SCUS strategy or our global campaigns.
      • Assist in congressional targeting, including by compiling updated information about vote records and policy positions of key members of Congress.

      Provide logistical and administrative support to Global Development Team (20%)
      • Support planning and execution of advocacy events, as needed.
      • Given the ever-evolving nature of advocacy for children and the need for this position to react to new policies and developments, a percentage of time will be required to handle issues as they arise.

      Represent Save the Children at, and report back on, coalition meetings and occasional Hill meetings or external meetings, as needed (10%)

      Required Qualifications
      • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience
      • Familiarity with and demonstrated interest in federal policymaking and the federal legislative process
      • Proven analytical ability, including the ability to produce written analytical and research summaries
      • Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver multiple projects and assignments, often with competing priorities and deadlines
      • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with direction, using informed time management and problem-solving
      • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
      • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
      • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
      • Professional proficiency in MS Office Suite
      • Enthusiasm for teamwork
      • Enthusiasm for advocacy and government relations work

      Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience or relevant coursework in global development policy
      • Demonstrated experience supporting government, government relations, policy, advocacy, or public affairs
      • Excellent organizational skills
      • Excellent writing skills

      Compensation
      Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
      • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $55,250 – $61,750 base salary
      • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $50,150 – $56,050 base salary
      • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $45,050 – $50,350 base salary

      Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program. Save the Children also offers paid vacation, accrued at least 12 days a year, depending on paygrade and length of service, paid safety and wellness leave of at least 1 day per month worked for a full time employee which is pro rata reduced for employees working less than a full time schedule, and at least 10 paid holidays a year. Employees may be eligible for additional bonus compensation.
