WHAT TO EXPECT

Reporting to the Global Commodity Lead this is an exciting opportunity to part of the creation and implementation of the long-term strategy for a critical commodity to JLR. EV Charging is an increasingly important technology that is forecast grow in value across our vehicles as we move to connected, electrified and autonomous vehicles. JLR must compete and evolve in this space to keep pace with competition. The strategy will need to be aligned with other commodities.

We are looking for talented, enthusiastic and professional senior buyers to take global responsibility for key commodities and suppliers.
Responsibilities will include sourcing, contract creation and negotiation and managing all aspects from commodity strategy to job 1, when responsibility will be handed to the delivery team. You will be the commodity and supplier lead and responsible for supplier setup, reviews and all negotiations.
Objectives will be related to sourcing on time to support future vehicles, ensuring continuity of supply throughout the pre build stages up to Job 1, ensuring that JLR is accessing best-in-class technology, ongoing cost management, change management and maintaining the most effective relationship with the suppliers under their responsibility.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Deliver successful sourcing activities, through industrialisation to Job 1 + 90 days
• Manage EV Charging supplier relationships to deliver best in class Quality, Cost, Delivery, Innovation and Sustainability
• Be responsible for clear and consistent reporting to senior leaders in JLR on progress.
• Work cross functionally to establish strategy for new technologies on the commodity and integration opportunities.
• Ensuring compliance to existing policies and processes and proactively identifying and participating in opportunities to improve these
  

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• Ideally gained experience working in the electronic industry
• Ideally experience of sourcing complex systems
• Ideally experience of SAP, WIPS and JIRA
• Ideally experience in contract negotiation, price negotiation and supplier relationship management
• A strong communicator with the ability to engage with and manage key stakeholders to influence cross functional engagement.
• An ability to challenge existing processes and spot opportunities for improvement.
• Comfortable working with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
• MS Office proficiency
• Business level English
• An understanding of Test-Driven Development
• An aptitude for problem solving and an openness to learning new skills and technologies.

Desirable:

• Experience of working in a global, multi-cultural environment, sourcing complex parts for a major vehicle programme / platform
• Experience in creating and/or implementing purchasing strategies
• Fluent in English
