      Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is an internationally renowned centre for the management of children with congenital and acquired heart disease. An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team in Clinical Physiology.

We have a position for a Band 6 Senior Physiologist to take an active role within our non-invasive and cardiac catheter lab team to cover a period of maternity leave. The role includes performing a range of non-invasive cardiac investigations including exercise testing, cardio-pulmonary exercise testing, device clinics as well as working in the interventional cardiac catheter lab. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to build on their experiences in cardiac physiology and develop in the challenging world of paediatrics and congenital/inherited heart disease.

The post holder will bring extensive knowledge of arrhythmia management with a focus on cardiac devices and catheter lab. They will work alongside other specialists to provide a comprehensive and high-quality service predominately in the cardiac catheter laboratory, device service and exercise testing lab. A contribution to other areas within the service will be required when the need dictates.

The post holder should have experience working independently in the cardiac catheter lab and/or in complex devices. They should have good knowledge of cardiology with a focus on management of arrhythmias and procedures performed in the catheter lab.Paediatric experience desirable but not essential as inhouse training will be provided if required.

A contribution to other areas within the service will be required when the need dictates: including exercise testing and other ambulatory investigations. This is a rotational role, and the successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the organisation of the day-to-day workload in the various service areas.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
