Job summary
An opportunity has opened up at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust (SFT) for a Senior Cardiac Physiologist to join our team for CRM and Invasive. This role would be ideally suited for a physiologist looking to take the next step in their career in a busy service.
It's an exciting time to join SFT. The CRM service is moving rapidly towards remote only care for pacemaker and ICD patients, and our conduction system pacing program is fully established. Invasive services under the umbrella of PCI are also advancing with lithotripsy integrated in practice and new procedures such as coronary sinus reducers being implemented and developed.
The Cardiac Investigation Unit relocated to a larger, refurbished department in March 2023 which has afforded us with new clinic rooms, admin spaces and staff areas.
The CRM service is busy, with a full range of device implants and follow-up offered. We implant and follow-up pacemakers, ICDs (including S-ICD), CRTs, conduction system pacemaker and ILRs. We also implant pacemakers on-call. Our primary PCI service is operational Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm, but we run a cath lab on-call service 24/7 for call-backs, IABPs and pacing (temporary or permanent).
Main duties of the job
In this role you would be expected to follow-up all CRM devices (including remote and depending on level of experience), and carry out any appropriate reprogramming as necessary in accordance with current national and local guidelines. You would also be expected to support the implant of all CRM devices (depending on level of experience), calling upon industry support where necessary.
You would be required to work independently in PCI and participate in our on-call service which incorporates pacemaker implant.
CIU also has a full non-invasive service for which you would need to provide support for the provision of exercise testing (including alongside Radiology for perfusion scanning), ambulatory monitoring and ECG.
You would be expected to manage your own learning including keeping up to date with emerging evidence and current guidance, but you would be supported in doing so.
At this level you would be asked to take on non-clinical duties such as training and audit.
In this post you would be supported to develop in CRM and invasive areas, as well as be expected to contribute to service delivery elsewhere in CIU. At SFT we have an excellent track record of supporting continuing professional development (including professional exams) and further academic study. We also seek to have representation at national and regional meetings.
We would advise making contact with us for an informal chat, at which time we can arrange a visit if you would like.

About the company
National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
