Student Life | Buckeye CareersBuckeye Careers provides services and resources to all students, including undergraduate, graduate, professional, PhD, and postdocs. The Career Services Specialist is an integral role in Buckeye Careers in providing and connecting students at The Ohio State University to career development resources, including access to experiential learning, internships, employment, and graduate school opportunities; advises students on career exploration and planning, job search skills (resume writing, cover letters, interviewing, job search strategies, and salary negotiation), and leveraging career-related resources and technology (Handshake, LinkedIn, etc.); provides individual and group career coaching and develops and facilitates career-related workshops, presentations, programs and events; helps develop and update materials and content to support new developments in the field and alignment with current market trends; collaborates with employers and alumni in order to increase student access to opportunities; supports the Buckeye Careers marketing and social media strategy in partnership with Student Life Marketing; reviews, monitors, and responds to incoming employer and student requests; completes necessary transactions in the university-wide career management system; builds and maintains positive, collaborative relationships across the Ohio State community, including the regional campuses, colleges, university departments and career services colleagues across the university.
Additional Information:
Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in student development and career services; understanding of the career development model; 4 years of professional work experience working with and supporting students with a wide range of needs; adept and comfortable in using technology to support student and employee learning and development; strong written and verbal communication and facilitation skills and ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships across a large organization; self-directed, adaptable, and able to make decisions in ambiguous situations; problem solving and offering recommendations and responsive in addressing opportunities as they arise; strong organization, planning, and attention to detail; effective time and energy management and able to prioritize across multiple initiatives independently; intermediate to advanced skills in using Microsoft products.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills: Prior working experience in higher education or career services; knowledge of the elements of successful internships/co-ops; demonstrable understanding of experiential learning; experience in using a career management system (e.g., Handshake); 5-8 years of professional work experience working with and supporting students with a wide range of needs.
Occasional evenings and weekends will be required to support key events as needed.
Pay Range: $49,800-$57,000
