      Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst

      The AIG catastrophe (CAT) risk modelling and exposure management operation is one of the largest in the industry with professionals worldwide across multiple geographies. Effective CAT exposure management and reporting is integral to the success of the business and our team of experienced catastrophe modelers and exposure managers play a critical role in supporting underwriting of catastrophe risk and in managing our global risk appetite. The individual in this critical role is responsible for supporting CAT modeling and exposure management needs of AIG’s North America (NA) business including Retail, Wholesale, Energy, Construction and Programs. The role requires partnering with Underwriting, Engineering, Actuarial stakeholders, as well as close engagement and partnership with other CAT Teams. The role is highly visible and will have the opportunity to interact with and advise underwriting leadership, as well as influence AIG’s approach to CAT modelling and exposure management.

      Duties:

      • Support quarterly portfolio roll-up and reporting operations for select commercial product lines.
      • Perform advanced catastrophe risk analyses for multiple commercial product lines across AIG's General Insurance business and support underwriting decisions using data driven insights and guidance.
      • Support the development of reporting standards and best practices for portfolio and account level modeling.
      • Actively participate in development and performance testing of AIG proprietary underwriting platforms and AIG internal view of Risk.
      • Engage with internal partners as needed to respond to rating agency surveys, various Ad-hoc reporting, support regulatory filing, and datacalls requirements for various U.S. state and national insurance regulatory bodies.
      • Support business planning, profit studies, portfolio optimization, reinsurance purchase, and other actuarial or data driven exercises where catastrophe risk inputs are required.
      • Assist in the development of catastrophe capacity and appetite metrics, and the deployment of these across NA Commercial lines.
      • Support Catastrophe event response and loss estimation efforts for NA Commercial lines.
      • Collaborate with AIG R&D and Engineering teams on client projects and initiatives
      • Provide regular training for internal stakeholders

      Key Requirements:

      • Good understanding of insurance and reinsurance
      • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills including numerical modeling
      • Minimal 3 years of direct experience in CAT risk and portfolio modelling using RMS/AIR
      • In-depth knowledge of CAT modeling methodologies, excellent understanding of RMS & AIR models and database structures
      • Excellent SQL skills and experience with additional programming languages (R/Python) highly preferred
      • A high degree of attention to detail; experience planning and delivering work for a global team with many simultaneous priorities and time-sensitive deliverables.
      • Good verbal and written communication skills, and be able to effectively communicate technical concepts in a non-technical manner to a wide range of audiences
      • A good team player working well with multiple teams
      • Bachelors degree in an analytical field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Finance, etc.); or Masters degree in an analytical field is a plus.

      For positions based in New York City, NY and San Francisco, CA the base salary range is $81,000-$100,000. For positions based in Jersey City, the base salary range is $81,000-$97,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
