      Main duties of the job

      You will support the Catering Team in delivering a customer focused catering service throughout the hospital following agreed work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with the national standards for these services.

      Your will prepare, cook and serve nutritionally balanced meals, under the direction from the Catering Manager. To assist in the preparation of food and beverages.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      To prepare, cook and serve nutritionally balanced meals, under the direction from the Catering Manager. To assist in the preparation of food and beverages.

      Responsible for taking meal orders and maintaining effective systems of communication between the kitchen and other areas

      Provide special diets, taking into account individual preference and needs Liaise with colleagues to meet Patients nutritional and dietary needs

      To ensure crockery, cutlery and equipment is washed and stored correctly. To set up and prepare meal trays.

      Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, Kitchenette, Beverage Bay, Service areas and Dining room in accordance with daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule.

      Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in accordance with policy and advise the Catering Manager of any malfunction of kitchen equipment completing all necessary paperwork.

      Responsibility for handling deliveries and stock, identifying any requirements and reporting to the Catering Manager immediately. Handle maintain and replenish stock.

      To maintain a portion control system and keep waste to a minimum. Disposal of waste in accordance with HMT Policy.

      To ensure all food prepared in the kitchen are of a high standard and presented in the correct agreed manner, ensuring compliance with all legislation relating to food safety management.

      To assist in providing a safe environment for the safety and welfare of patients and staff by being aware of Health and Safety at work act., Fire prevention and management, Infection control, COSHH, HACCAP and FSA Complete all necessary paperwork and daily checks.

      To attend all mandatory training on or off site pertaining to the role.

      To be competent in Allergen Management
