      Job Overview:

      The Senior Childcare Food Specialist prepares nutritious, child-friendly meals and snacks for the children attending Deaconess Children's Enrichment Center while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and cleanliness. The Senior Childcare Food Specialist will be responsible for planning, preparing and serving balanced meals and snacks in accordance with USDA guidelines and state childcare nutritional standards, while maintaining compliance with dietary guidelines and allergy protocols.

      Job Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

      • Prepares daily meals and snacks, taking into consideration the number of children in attendance each day as well as portion sizes in accordance to federal and state guidelines/recommendations.
      • Delivers food to classrooms, ensuring food carts are equipped with appropriate supplies.
      • Maintains posting of daily menu, including any applicable substitutions.
      • Orders cost-conscious food supplies to meet anticipated attendance levels and maintain appropriate stock levels.
      • Checks and rotates stock, limiting waste due to expiration and spoilage.
      • Monitors food deliveries to ensure accuracy on food invoices. Quickly stores stock efficiently and quickly.
      • Maintains a clean, sanitary kitchen in compliance with ServSafe protocols and local health department regulations.
      • Creates menus that accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and cultural preferences.
      • Serves as substitute in classrooms as needed.
      • Assists with maintaining clean linens for the center by collecting, washing, folding, and putting away linens in downtime.

      Required Certification/License/Experience:

      • Must have a ServSafe certification.
      • Must acquire 20 hours of professional development annually.

      Preferred Certification/License/Experience:

      • Current CPR/First Aid certification and NAEYC Membership preferred.
