What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct high-quality clinical documentation reviews across various Ascension markets
- Adapt quickly to different inpatient units, service lines, and CDI teams as required
- Generate compliant queries to clarify documentation affecting coding and reimbursement
- Maintain high productivity and quality standards consistent with senior CDS expectations
- Mentor and support new CDS team members during onboarding and training periods
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Clinical Documentation Professional credential from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists obtained prior to hire date
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's/Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable job-specific experience
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS)
- Advanced knowledge of clinical documentation and coding rules
- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 2 years of leadership or management experience
- Proven adaptability to various hospital systems and documentation styles
- Expertise in SOI/ROM capture and quality indicator alignment
- Technological proficiency with CDI tools and secure communication methods
- Flexibility for rapid deployment with minimal notice
