      The Opportunity

      The Senior Counsel, commercial legal at Abbott Diabetes Care will provide legal support for an exciting variety of global health care and digital health projects in a fast-paced environment supporting products that are changing lives for patients around the world on a daily basis. This role is based out of our Alameda, CA office.

      What You’ll Work On

      You will work on complex legal problems with high impact and visibility to division and global leadership. Responsibilities will include:

      • Working directly with senior leadership in all areas of the business to support strategic plans for the development, launch, distribution, and marketing of innovative medical device products;
      • Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including managed care, procurement, customer, development, licensing, clinical and strategic alliance agreements.
      • Providing legal counsel for commercial projects, in a variety of cutting edge legal areas, including social media, data sharing, reimbursement, fraud and abuse, and regulatory.
      • Developing documentation to support products, such as warranties, terms of use and privacy notices.
      • Building cross-functional relationships with personnel throughout the organization.

      Required Qualifications

      Candidates must possess a JD degree and have or be able to obtain appropriate licensure to practice law in California.

      • A minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience.
      • Demonstrated responsibility for moderately complex commercial legal matters with minimal supervision.
      • Excellent negotiation, drafting, communication, and analytical skills.
      • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and drive projects to completion.
      • Experience with digital health care environments and data privacy/cyber security regulations is preferred, but not required.
      • Prior in-house experience is preferred, but not required.

      $164,900.00 – $329,700.00
