- Lead and guide a team of database administrators, providing supervision, coaching, and support to ensure their professional growth and technical development.
- In collaboration with the Manager of Database Administration, develop and manage technology roadmaps for database infrastructure, in alignment with Architecture and organizational goals and initiatives.
- Develop and implement database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR).
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of database structures, ensuring efficient storage, retrieval, and data processing.
- Develop operational procedures and templates to e nhance and create standardized operational procedures and templates to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Coordinate and run DSU (Daily Stand-up) calls with the team u tiliz ing tools such as Rally, Jira, or ServiceNow to manage the team's backlog, track work progress, and plan for future sprints, while promoting accountability and efficiency .
- Oversee the database patching process, ensuring timely updates and maintenance to maintain support and provide bug fixes .
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to L2 and L3 DBAs to ensure adherence to established processes and best practices.
- Regularly monitor team tasks, escalate issues as necessary, and provide timely status updates on the team’s in-flight work to the Manager of Database Administration .
- Maintain oversight of all ongoing Database Administrator (DBA) projects and initiatives.
- Conduct capacity planning calls and offer recommendations to management to support sustained business growth.
- Design and create new Oracle databases in support of both on-prem and in-the-cloud applications . As well as m aintaining and enhanc ing the performance of existing databases with a strong emphasis on high availability / fault tolerance and disaster recovery to ensure business continuity .
- Collaborate with Architecture and Application development teams in high-level data-tier design for hospitality products . This would include using appropriate database technology, evaluating query patterns, reports and analytics, data movement/distribution , and ensuring the proper usage of supporting indexes, partitioning, and in-memory features.
- Upgrade databases to the latest versions, monitor overall health using available tools (DPA, OEM , PMM , etc.) , and take or recommend appropriate data management improvement actions like partitioning, indexes, in-memory tables , etc .
- Manage databases through phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from development through critical production systems. Maintain accurate inventory records for database assets .
- Collaborate with the Manager of Database Administration to manage and create standards, procedures, and policies for governing database environments.
- Provide technical guidance to multiple application development teams in the design and development of database components. Provide escalation support, troubleshooting and resolution assistance , and performance tuning aid for the R&D and operational database teams.

- Bachelor's degree or higher. Master’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience leading/managing DBA teams.
- 8+ years managing Oracle database technologies, such as Oracle 12c/19c, GoldenGate, and Exadata, in a highly available enterprise operation s group .
- 3+ years of experience working with MySQL and/or Postgres is preferred
- 2+ years of experience working in any N o SQL (or other database technologies used in the industry) technology is a plus .
- Understanding the hospitality transactional patterns for clear and concise capacity management is a plus .
- Overall domain knowledge and functional understanding of the Hospitality Industry is a plus: CRS, CRM, Loyalty, PMS, Sales and Events, RMS, Service Optimization, Channels and Distribution.
- Certification in one or more database platforms is preferred.
- Able to troubleshoot complex database engine performance or technical issues.
- Collaborate with Application development teams in designing databases and developing efficient queries based on load and use case.
- Collaborate with and understand the infrastructure team dependencies on the database environment.
- Ability to plan and execute tasks related to maintenance, upgrades, failovers, and other database system-sustaining activities as required .
- Other industry certifications and/or working knowledge of SAFe or ITIL are a plus.
- Strong capacity for logical thinking and the ability to understand complex applications and systems.

As a Database Team Lead , you would report to the Manager of Database Administration . You will lead and support the DBA team in the implementation, configuration, security, maintenance, and performance tuning/monitoring of the Amadeus Hospitality database tier. The focus of this role is to lead the database administrators and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations and optimal utilization of Amadeus’ database systems.
Another key function of this role in partnership with the Manager of Database Administration is to create policies and procedures, develop strategic plans, and ensure best practices are followed for database management .
The individual will partner closely with cross-functional teams that include Development, Product, and Architecture to ensure the delivery of our applications at the highest level of quality and performance.
This is a Hybrid role. The successful candidate may be in the Orlando, FL , o r Portsmouth, NH office, 50% of the time. There is no relocation package associated with this r ole .
