      The Senior Director of Development Evaluation and Strategy (Cardiovascular and Neuroscience) is responsible for the execution of company-sponsored clinical collaborations between BMS development and external partners. As the member of a highly dynamic cross-functional matrix team, specific responsibilities include:

      • Execute the strategy for clinical collaborations across Cardiovascular and Neuroscience by implementing a future-forward view of disruptive technologies and next-generation assets and platforms.

      • Act as a key partner with Business Development (Search & Evaluation, Transactions, and Licensing/Acquisition Teams), Commercial and broader R&D organization to support comprehensive assessments of external opportunities including new platforms and assets for the Cardiovascular and Neuroscience Franchise

      • Able to influence key business development and alliance management transactions, providing meaningful strategic and practical advice from a R&D perspective.

      • Establish strong external focus on partnerships to continue to build a franchise reputation that attracts innovators to bring their ideas to BMS.

      • Independently represent late clinical development in due diligence activities on external assets and provide clear evaluation of the technical risks and benefits of an asset.

      • Implementation of clinical collaboration once agreement executed.

      • Lead the design and develop appropriate clinical development plans and clinical trials to test scientific hypothesis and enable further development of the collaboration goals; this may include trials for registration intent or for medical informing data generation intent.

      • Monitor progress of trials with BMS assets under clinical collaborations in partnership with Alliance Management

      • Take into account the overall development plans and status of all programs across both the early and late Development Teams (not limited to the specific assigned/project level indications) to better execute external clinical collaborations, BD assessments and diligence.

      • Assess, navigate and integrate inputs from key internal disciplines and stakeholders; work closely with colleagues in BMS Research, Development, Regulatory, Medical, Commercial and other key functional areas on a global basis.

      • Represent Development Evaluation and Strategy at biotech (BIO/JPM) and scientific conference meetings with external companies.


      Degree Requirements

      • Advanced degree in life sciences preferred ( M.D, Ph.D. or PharmD)

      Experience Requirements

      • At least 10 years of experience in drug development as a scientist/physician leader across drug development in the pharmaceutical industry.

      • Background in Cardiovascular and/or Neuroscience and a deep understanding and direct experience in cardiovascular and/or neuroscience (neurodegenerative disease preferred) clinical development.

      • The successful candidate will understand early-stage drug development issues, experience designing and conducting Phase II and Phase III clinical trials; demonstrable success filing regulatory dossiers and prosecuting them through approval is desirable.

      • Experience in business development, particularly helping to evaluate the technical and franchise aspects for potential in-licensing opportunities that shape the Cardiovascular and/or Neuroscience clinical development strategy preferred.

      Key Competency Requirements

      • Demonstrated excellent skills in clinical development activities including the clinical components of regulatory submission(s)

      • Strong analytical skills, an ability to evaluate scientific data and medical literature and extrapolate their applicability to medical practice.

      • Highly effective matrix leader capable of working with Commercial, Medical, and all Research and Development functions of the company.

      • The development of a resilient attitude, positive embrace of change and unwavering commitment to our People Strategy are expected.

      • Willingness to learn and work in clinical areas outside of core competency.

      Leadership and Matrix Management

      Travel Required (nature and frequency)

      • National and international, occasional (once every 3-4 months)

      The starting compensation for this job is a range from $202,000-$289,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

      The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and the where the job is performed.

      Final individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
