      About the role:

      The Senior Director, Payment Integrity Data Intelligence (PIDI) Supporting Services will play a key role in advancing Payment Integrity strategy and practices across PI and within PIDI. Additionally, this role is responsible for leading the teams that provide all the centralized services that the PIDI organization needs to function efficiently and effectively. These services include work-force management, capacity planning, insights and reporting, communications, managing the rhythm of business and key deliverables, process improvement, employee training and career development among others. The Supporting Services team is relied upon to provide the information, context, and insights to the PIDI leadership team needed to make the day-to-day and long-term strategic decisions to ensure that the team continues to deliver on its productivity and efficiency commitments. Additionally, the Senior Director PIDI Supporting Services will be asked to lead strategic projects within PIDI or for the larger Payment Integrity Managed Services organization and will be accountable for delivering the anticipated benefits, changes, and insights from those projects. In addition to building and leading a high performing team, the incumbent will also be accountable for translating United Health Group’s culture and values into action and be a role model for all members of the team.

      Primary Responsibilities:

      • Support and manage high priority strategic programs across Payment Integrity Decision Intelligence department
      • Define and implement workforce and budget planning strategy for the PIDI organization. Including productivity and throughput improvement strategy and execution
      • Maintain strategic relationships with relevant business leaders and key stakeholders while maintaining focus on PIDI and PIMS strategy and goals
      • Provide insights and recommendations to PIDI leaders at all levels regarding departmental resource allocation and alignment with strategic objectives and organizational priorities
      • Build consensus among organizational leaders on implementing processes and practices needed to implement the workforce strategy
      • Assist in prioritization of investment for the business, providing recommendations based on financial and non-financial targets
      • Communicate effectively and accurately in writing and verbally to audiences ranging from business unit senior executives to leaders of individual delivery teams
      • Drive innovation within core areas of responsibility by testing new technology and approaches to continually advance the teams’ capabilities
      • Build and manage a talented, diverse, and inclusive team who challenge the status quo, dig deep on data and human factors, and deliver new perspectives and insights on staff and process performance
      • Drive efficiencies in current processes via standardization, process improvement and implementing new technologies
      • Oversee the allocation and assignment of supporting services team members to the highest priority activities in support of PIDI and Optum Insights organizational goals
      • Provide leadership, mentoring & coaching for team members in order to enhance employee engagement, promote professional development and maintain high levels of staff satisfaction

      Required Qualifications:

      • Extensive experience building and leading high performing teams
      • Undergraduate degree in a relevant healthcare or quantitative discipline
      • Experience working in and successfully navigating a matrixed environment and demonstrated stakeholder management skills
      • Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills with ability to balance multiple priorities and research conflicting and/or inaccurate data
      • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, influence, collaboration and listening skills
      • Proven ability to act decisively and proactively, anticipating change, and modifying plans/timetables as needed
      • Proven written and verbal communication skills
      • Proven ability to use proper discretion when dealing with confidential information exhibiting a high level of integrity
      • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Master’s degree in business, finance, health care administration, statistics, pharmacy, or another related field
      • Experience with the development and implementation of AI/ML solutions
      • Natural curiosity to learn more, dig into details, and understand the key drivers of emerging trends and challenges
