What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conceptualize, prototype, test, document, design, implement, sustain, and support software and firmware modules and processes
- Develop embedded software, scripts, and modules on the OpenWrt embedded Linux framework
- Create firmware for execution in an MCU environment
- Provide oversight and direction to other software engineers on the team
- Collaborate effectively in both team settings and independent work
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years of embedded software/firmware design experience
- Proficiency in C, Lua, and shell scripting
- Experience with embedded Linux (OpenWrt) software/firmware development related to networking/router SoCs
- Strong debugging skills and experience with common engineering tools
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with networking/router System on Chips (SoC), such as Qualcomm Atheros (QCA4531) or equivalent
- Familiarity with ARM Cortex M Microcontrollers
- Proficiency in developing with wireless devices such as cellular modems and Wi-Fi/BLE modules
- Experience using Integrated Development Environments (IDE) for firmware development, preferably IAR
- Ability to design for testing and manufacturing best practices
