- Administer and/or oversee daily monitoring and troubleshooting, verifying the integrity and availability of all server resources, analyze performance of the virtual VMWare infrastructure environment.
- Design, develop, implement, document and maintain virtual technology best practacies standards in collaboration with crossfunctional team, executive team and staff.
- Test, upgrade, and migrate virtual environment as new versions of software and hardware become available.
- Install, configure, test, and deploy software packages/security patches related to the enterprise environment, utilizing automation processes as much as possible.
- Research and recommend solutions to technology needs that are compatible with the current technology architecture and infrastructure. Remain current on knowledge of industry standards in the server, desktop and mobile administration, protocols, and security.
Are you a seasoned VDI Engineer looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a Senior VDI Engineer to lead, optimize, and advance our virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment. Key Responsibilities:
-Lead VDI Design & Architecture: Take ownership of planning, designing, and implementing high-performance VDI solutions with VMware. Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of our virtual desktop infrastructure.
-Advanced Troubleshooting & Optimization: Utilize your expertise to troubleshoot and resolve complex VDI and infrastructure performance issues. Identify bottlenecks and implement strategic optimizations.
Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with IT leadership and cross-functional teams (network, storage, security, and cloud services) to integrate, scale, and enhance VDI solutions.
-Mentorship & Leadership: Lead and mentor junior VDI engineers and technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices to elevate team capabilities.
-Documentation & Training: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, knowledge bases, and training materials for internal teams and end-users.
-Innovation & Research: Stay ahead of emerging VDI trends and technologies. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and automation within our VDI environment.
What we're looking for:
-Extensive experience with VDI technologies such as VMware Horizon, Citrix, Microsoft RDS, or similar platforms in large-scale enterprise environments.
-Deep understanding of virtualization, hypervisors, cloud infrastructure, networking, and storage integration.
-Proven expertise in troubleshooting and performance tuning of complex VDI environments, with a focus on optimizing user experience and system efficiency.
-Solid experience with Active Directory, Windows Server, and Cloud VDI solutions.
-Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide a team of engineers.
-Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Citrix Certified Expert (CCE), or Microsoft -----Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are highly preferred.
-Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and levels of the organization.

This role requires being onsite three (3) days per week.
Reliable in-person attendance is an essential function of all positions. TriMet is an in-person first organization, with a strong emphasis on in-person collaboration, customer service, and safe and efficient operations. Some positions may be able to work up to two days remotely depending on department policy, business needs, and manager discretion.

Four (4) years of total credited experience.*
Four (4) years of technical support including virtual environment support are required.
Four (4) years of Tanium package deployments and administration experience are preferred.
A MCSE - Microsoft Cert Sys Eng is preferred.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.*
The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Minimum: $99,064.00
Maximum: $148,597.00
Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.Selection Process
