      General Description:

      The Senior EHR Principal Trainer is a highly experienced Principal Trainer who will lead the OU Health training initiatives for the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. As a key member of our team, the Senior Principal Trainer will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering comprehensive training programs that empower our healthcare professionals to effectively utilize the Epic EHR platform. Working closely with the EHR Training Director and the Epic application team, the Senior Principal Trainer will play a critical role in enhancing patient care, optimizing workflows and ensuring the successful adoption of our EHR system across our organization.

      • Provides guidance and mentorship to junior trainers, both Principal Trainers and Credentialed Trainers, assisting with MST build, LHD maintenance, and tip sheet creation
      • Serves as mitosis guru, making sure that mitosis runs nightly and provide technical support for mitosis and MST issues
      • Creates and maintains our Epic test-out program for new hire employees with previous Epic experience
      • Creates training related communications for upgrades, optimizations and enhancements
      • Develops role-based training content, independently or with team members, using a variety of software programs, tools, and applications
      • Designs, develops and maintains instructional materials, including standard operating procedures
      • Incorporates feedback from others into existing training and training administration procedures
      • Learns new content and consults with subject matter experts to develop training materials and answer any participant questions
      • Collaborates with other trainers by co-facilitating classroom instruction and assisting with exercises as needed
      • Prepares training lessons, prints materials, and sets up the training room and environment prior to the training session
      • Presents information verbally and in writing in a clear and easy-to-understand manner
      • Serves as an expert educator to internal staff and supporting personalization labs for all users
      • Trains and credentials additional classroom trainers as needed
      • Trains staff and end users by teaching technical topics as needed
      • Manages projects through prioritization and adherence to timeline


      Minimum Qualifications:

      Education and Experience:

      Bachelor's degree in related field and at least 5 years applicable IT or clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four years of experience will be considered equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.

      Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required:

      Certification in at least two Epic applications

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      • Skill and experience in adult education
      • Demonstrated flexibility with respect to required changes in training content and delivery methods
      • Ability to work without close supervision, taking ownership of work activities and ensuring training sessions and supporting materials meet standards
      • The ability and willingness to take ownership of work activities and ensure that they are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner
      • The ability to develop and deliver formal presentations. This includes presenting information in a clear and interesting manner, that captivates the audience's attention, and handling questions or challenges from the group
      • The ability to communicate information clearly and concisely to trainers, and trainees when speaking and in writing
      • The enthusiasm to put forth extra effort when required, including demonstrating determination when faced with obstacles and adversity
      • Excellent analytical, organization, and oral communication skills.
      • Ability to work independently and within teams.
      • Ability to solve complex problems and understand customer needs.
      • Strong understanding of healthcare business process and technology.
        Basic understanding of clinical workflows and terminology.
      • Working knowledge of IT solutions and interfacing a plus.
      • Must be able to drive to assigned sites to complete work.
      • Must be able to travel in state and out of state on occasion.
