      The Senior Global Mobility Advisor reports to a Senior Manager, Global Mobility and is a contributing member of the Global Mobility Centre of Expertise (GM COE) whose mandate is to support business objectives and talent partners with expertise, programs and operational excellence that enables and simplifies global talent deployment while also balancing needs of employees and enterprise requirements.

      As a Global Mobility Senior Advisor you will be a trusted advisor to employees, leaders, and HR Business Partners providing advice, guidance and management of inquiries. You will work closely with RBC’s third-party mobility tax / work permit service partner(s), and relocation management company (RMC) and, as part of the GM COE, will deliver standard and high touch support to all of our stakeholders. This work encompasses RBC global business platforms and covers all programs the GM COE manages today including, but not limited to, expatriates, short-term business travelers, international transfers, and commuters.

      What will you do?

      • Work closely with RBC Payroll and other internal departments to support delivery of mobility program payroll delivery and reporting with a strong focus on employee experience for those impacted by mobility program income tax requirements.
      • Be the mobility income tax delivery subject-matter-expert (SME) with respect to income tax and delivery aspects impacting employees in our GM programs, including, but not limited to, monthly remuneration collection; tax consult/prep services; YE filings & remittances; tax reconciliation & equalization, payment to relevant tax authorities and collection from participant employees.
      • Summarize advice and counsel from relevant mobility service partners to aid in decisions or reviews by internal stakeholders including HR business partners, recruiters, leaders and employees on application of and/or compliance with global mobility program/policy provisions that align business, employee and enterprise requirements.
      • Manage payment to & recovery of funds from employees via tax equalization and/or reconciliation processes impacted by various GM COE programs; including internal compliance & program management reporting.
      • Working with our external immigration counsel, provide support and oversight as related to immigration assessments and issuance of entrance and/or work permits as part of our travel compliance program
      • Proactively stay up-to-date and make program recommendations to team that aligns with mobility program delivery best practices, regulatory changes (tax/immigration/risk), etc.
      • In partnership with GM COE colleagues and Service Providers, ensure effective service delivery for outsourced administration of policy and employee advisory components which includes oversight, updates and escalating issues the Senior Manage, Global Mobility, if needed.
      • Proactively working to update processes to improve efficiencies within RBC, as well as leveraging vendor systems and reporting, and identifying future opportunities to continue move from manual to automated workflows.
      • Support GM COE team on other matters related to the life cycle of an employee transfer through cross-team project work and day-to-day activities.

      What do you need to succeed?

      Must-have

      • Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma.
      • 5+ years of international employee mobility tax (US-Canada, International) experience gained from experience in a corporate global mobility, accounting advisory or international payroll role.
      • Experience modernizing or optimizing operational/data driven processes coupled with demonstratable understanding of Canadian, US, UK compliance with respect to personal or payroll employee/employer tax.
      • Financial literacy with experience in MS Excel, reconciling general ledgers, familiarity with payroll and year-end income tax reporting for US-Canada or international global mobility programs.
      • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with ability to synthesize advice from service partners to a variety of stakeholders (verbal and written) in a clear and concise manner.
      • Professional work ethic, team player, can-do attitude with passion for learning, and delivering excellent employee experiences.
      • Strong organization skills, high attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize work, multi-task effectively and hold yourself and others accountable for seeing work through to completion.
      • Demonstrated ability to deliver on time and under pressure through both independent and/or collaborative work effort.

      Nice-to-have

      • Process knowledge to enable the employee/employer income tax process (i.e., obtaining tax ID’s, timing of filing, application of tax waivers and foreign tax credits, etc.).
      • Strong technical capability (vendor web-based admin tools); financial tools (RBC Express, Service Platform, IRIS, TSYS), other tools (SAP, Workday, ServiceNow, Power BI, etc).
      • Working with legal counsel to administer/process work permits.
