      GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


      The Wyoming Department of Agriculture is searching for a Senior Inspection Specialist for its Technical Services Division. This position is responsible for Pesticide program inspections and complaints for the western side of the state and providing support for the Leaf Cutter Bee lab as required. The successful candidate must be able to become a subject matter expert in the laws and regulations of pesticide applications in Wyoming and will be responsible for training other staff. The successful candidate must possess organizational skills, be adept at time management, communication, and providing effective training.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.


      • Investigate pesticide complaints
      • Inspects pesticide applicators and restricted-use pesticide dealers for compliance
      • Support Leaf Cutter Bee sampling and inspections
      • Assist in the development, planning, and implementation of training for Plant Industry programs
      • Assist with the development of Division internal policies
      • Attend national training events as needed
      • Reviews statutes, rules, and regulations to maintain compliance.
      • Performs inspections in a variety of regulatory Division programs as required


      PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:


      Preference may be given to the candidate with a Bachelor's degree in agriculture, natural resources, or chemistry.
      **The agency requires that the successful hire possess a valid driver's license.


      KNOWLEDGE:


      • Knowledge of report writing.
      • Knowledge of basic research methods.
      • Knowledge of government procedures and policies.
      • Knowledge of Technical Services Division programs
      • Knowledge of effective training methods
      • Knowledge of pesticides and pesticide applications.


      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      Education:
      Bachelor's Degree
      Experience:
      0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II
      OR
      Education & Experience Substitution:
      4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II
      Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
      None


      PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


      • Will be exposed to varying weather conditions both indoors and outdoors.
      • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.


      NOTES:


      • FLSA: Exempt
      • Must have the ability to travel and work flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekend work. Travel may consist of 40-50% of the time commitment.
