      The Security team helps us uphold the standards required to run a safe and successful airline. This includes global aviation compliance, corporate investigations and field investigations, and teams that deal with the security of our facilities, aircraft, and employees worldwide.

      Key Responsibilities:

      This position reports directly to the Senior Manager, External Investigations, and is primarily responsible for conducting prompt, thorough and confidential investigations of theft, fraud, and/or policy violations by individuals that are not employees or vendor employees. This includes both proactive and reactive investigative efforts, as well as serve a SME/collaborator for enterprise-wide initiatives. This position shall be responsible for conducting investigations globally.

      • Conduct and lead investigations of theft and fraud, including but not limited to Electronic Travel Certificates, MileagePlus Program, credit card, travel agencies, Contract of Carriage, MileagePlus Program Rules, UA Booking and Ticketing Policy.
      • Compile findings by calculating revenue loss and recovery for each case type and other investigative evidence to support case-including comprehensive case report, and possibly present to law enforcement for prosecution
      • Vet new travel agencies credit worthiness before allowing them to sell UA inventory
      • Heavy contact via phone and email/mail with customers, members, involved parties, mileage brokers and travel agents to resolve issues and gather evidence.
      • Negotiate settlements and execute cease and desist agreements
      • Modify Data Warehouse queries to fit different investigations, as well as make recommendations for new Data Warehouse queries based on current trends
      • Build and fine-tune fraud detection rules of the Redemption Fraud Detection engine
      • Work with various collaborators to onboard new programs and to build/revise policy to ensure UA assets are protected. Involve Legal where appropriate
      • Daily vetting of redemption, non-air credit card purchases and post-ticketed credit card air transactions for validity
      • Collect and analyze appropriate data to respond to subpoena requests
      • Create, present, and facilitate to educate other departments and carriers on the roles and responsibilities of Corporate Security External Investigations
      • Represent UA in court proceedings, including but not limited to Small Claims Court
      • Assist in all types of External Investigation through cross utilization

      What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

      • Bachelor’s degree (Criminal Justice/Criminology, or other related fields) or equivalent work experience in a corporate setting investigating theft and fraud
      • 3+ years of equivalent work experience in a corporate environment investigating theft and fraud
      • Familiarity with SQL or other relational databases
      • Experience with airline ticketing/revenue accounting processes
      • Experience conducting travel agency
      • Experience with travel industry related reservation/global distribution system
      • Experience with frequent flyer/loyalty programs
      • Experience with MS Office (Access, Excel, Word)
      • Excellent oral and written skills
      • Hybrid 3 days/week in office
      • Must be legally authorized to work in United States for employer without sponsorship
      • Successful completion of interview is required to meet job qualification
      • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
      • Ability to travel up to 15%
