      Job Summary

      The Coding Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist, Interventional Radiology (IR) is primarily responsible for determining the appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes to be applied to patient accounts for billing purposes based on providers’ documentation in the patient’s medical record.

      Essential Functions and Tasks

      Assigns appropriate billing codes to patient accounts. Performs ongoing analysis of medical record documentation for completeness. - Provides feedback to Coders on coding discrepancies. - Provides feedback to Coding Supervisor on documentation deficiencies. - Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

      Education and Experience Requirements

      • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
      • Four (4) years of Emergency Department (ED) and Hospitalist Medicine coding experience.
      • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent, preferred.
      • CIRCC required within 12 months of hire.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

      • Must possess a Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC) certification or have a minimum of 5 years of coding experience in interventional radiology procedures.
      • If not currently CIRCC certified, candidate must obtain certification within 12 months of hire. Ventra will cover the cost of the certification exam and preparation materials.
      • For candidates who already hold a CIRCC certification, Ventra will reimburse any financial penalties incurred from a current or previous employer due to exiting a role prior to a required service commitment, upon proof of payment and supporting documentation.
      • Ventra will also cover CEU credits required to maintain active certification(s), in accordance with our policy.
      • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
      • Knowledge of the requirements of medical record documentation.
      • Strong database software skills.
      • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
      • Strong time management skills.
      • Strong organizational skills.
      • Ability to read, understand, and apply state/federal laws, regulations, and policies.
      • Ability to remain flexible and work within a collaborative and fast paced environment.
      • Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and professional manner.

      Compensation

      • Base Compensation will be based on various factors unique to each candidate including geographic location, skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
      • This position is also eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus in accordance with company policies.
