      Position Responsibilities:

      At Manulife, data is becoming a critical strategic focus. Delivering the right solutions to ensure all levels of management are making data-driven decisions is critical to Manulife’s success. Sound data governance sets the foundation to ensure these solutions meet the business and analytical needs. These foundational frameworks are designed and supported by the Asia Data Office (ADO).

      • Data Governance & Enablement is charged with:
      • Access management and information security of Asia Enterprise Data Lake (EDL)
      • Data governance framework within Asia
      • Data quality and access oversight
      • Governance reporting and transparency
      • Communication and collaboration

      Responsibilities:

      Access Framework

      • Own the access framework for Asia EDL
      • Deliver on standards, processes and procedures associated with the access framework
      • Partner with different markets in Asia to implement

      Information Security

      • Support implementation of Information Security standards
      • Support rollout of related tools and automation

      Strategy

      • Assist in development and implementation of Data Enablement framework and processes
      • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Asia Data strategy
      • Lead internal and external reviews/ audits pertaining to access and information security

      Leadership

      • Lead by example and develop team culture which is:
      • Accountable
      • Innovative
      • Service-minded
      • Mentor peers and indirect reports
      • Conduct training/ refresher sessions for data users and other related communities

      Required Qualifications:

      Education & experience

      • Degree or equivalent experience in:
      • Library Sciences
      • Computer Sciences
      • Cyber or Information Security
      • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is highly desirable
      • 8+ years of progressive responsibility and accountability in one or more of:
      • Information Security
      • Records handling in large organizations
      • Development of organization-wide data policies and processes
      • Experience in managing Information security in large organizations is an asset

      Technical proficiency

      • Understanding of one or more of the following tools and platforms are helpful:
      • Apache Ranger and Apache Atlas
      • Databricks Unity Catalog
      • Informatica Data Quality
      • Collibra Data Governance Centre
      • Microsoft Purview
      • Basic understanding of databases such as SQL, Oracle, NoSQL
      • Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, MS Project and SharePoint

      Competencies

      • Demonstrated understanding of data management and information security
      • Ability to interpret and translate terminology between technical and business users
      • Change champion – actively identify opportunities for improvement and ability to implement changes successfully
      • Collaborate with geographically and culturally diverse teams across various geographies
      • Self-sufficient
      • Effective analysis and presentation skills
      • Lead through coaching and mentorship
      • Above average written and oral communication skills in the English language
