The City of Mission Viejo is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join our team as our next Senior Librarian within the Library & Cultural Services Department. This is a “hands-on” working senior level position, overseeing a major area of the library including staff supervision.
Currently, there are two (2) full-time vacancies in the Library & Cultural Services Department. The position is scheduled to work Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with one evening shift from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and alternating Friday/Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The schedule may vary depending on the needs of the City including evenings and weekends as needed. This is an FLSA exempt position and is not entitled to overtime.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Knowledge of:Skill in:Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited college or university, and at least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience as a professional Librarian. Knowledge of supervision techniques and practices, as well as program and collection development experience is highly desirable.
License:May be assigned to work at multiple City facilities within the workday. Therefore, possession of a valid California Driver’s License is preferred, however, not required. The employee will be responsible for meeting the essential function of performing work at various locations whether with or without accommodation.
