      Job Description

      The Senior Manager, Chemistry is responsible for overseeing all aspects of SGS routine and developmental analytical testing. Along with Managers, responsible for ensuring that the Chemistry laboratory is functioning in a manner that both satisfies the needs of SGS clients and complies with applicable standards and regulations. The Senior Manager is ultimately responsible for taking into account big picture considerations and making decisions that are critical to the department's long-term success.

      • Manages overall activities and other managers/supervisors of the Chemistry department
      • Serves as technical expert, providing scientific leadership and guidance to clients and staff
      • Updates Procedures or delegates that to managers/subject matter experts
      • Ensures the Chemistry laboratory is cGMP compliant and audit-ready at all times
      • Assist with laboratory investigations for OOS and OOT events
      • Cultivates key client relationships
      • Participates in negotiating contracts
      • Provides information required for quoting
      • Helps to resolve Client complaints. Ensures client requests are met in a timely and effective manner
      • Develops department plan to meet future client needs
      • Provides feedback and guidance to department staff
      • Plans and executes staffing, supply, equipment, and facility issues as necessary to properly run the chemistry testing department to meet client and SGS needs
      • Ensures the department operates in a manner that is profitable for SGS
      • Provides the General Manager data for feedback on monthly and yearly forecasts
      • Represents SGS during client visits and regulatory inspections
      • Conducts annual performance reviews of direct reports (Managers and Supervisors)

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's Degree in a sciences or related discipline
      • 10+ years of experience in an Analytical Chemistry lab setting with experience following strict safety standards
      • 5+ years of supervisory experience
      • OR equivalent combination of education and experience
