      What you’ll do

      The AstraZeneca Biopharmaceuticals Corporate Affairs Senior Manager, Europe & Canada (EUCAN), will support the development and delivery of communications, government affairs and policy shaping activities to drive business objectives, increase patient access across AstraZeneca’s key therapy areas in EUCAN for the Biopharmaceuticals Business Unit (BBU), improve AstraZeneca’s corporate reputation as an innovation leader and trusted partner in the region, as well as support AstraZeneca’s ambition to be a great place to work.

      As part of a high-performing team, you will play a critical role in developing, coordinating and implementing multi-faceted strategies and initiatives to promote, support, and/or defend primary business goals and communications/policy objectives, in close partnership with global, regional and market-based teams across Commercial, Medical Affairs and Corporate Affairs Functions. You will also support strategic planning and coordination of Corporate Affairs activities across the EUCAN region.

      The role is ideally based full-time in Baar, Switzerland (or could sit in another AstraZeneca EU office location) and reports directly to the Senior Director, Biopharmaceuticals Corporate Affairs, Europe & Canada, part of the EUCAN Corporate Affairs team within AstraZeneca’s Global Corporate Affairs Function.

      Responsibilities:

      • Support development and implementation of Corporate Affairs strategies and initiatives to drive AstraZeneca’s therapy area and corporate priorities in alignment with global, regional and local cross functional teams, focusing on AstraZeneca’s BBU.

      • Assist in analysing, developing and delivering recommendations, messaging and positioning on key policies and issues impacting AstraZeneca’s portfolio, corporate reputation and business.

      • Support Corporate Affairs activities for the Senior Vice President (SVP) EUCAN aimed at driving chronic disease agenda and building corporate thought leadership.

      • Lead and oversee key internal communications activities to support in driving employee engagement around our EUCAN vision and ambitions.

      • Work with colleagues across Global Corporate Affairs to ensure alignment and pull through of global BBU focused campaigns at regional and country level.

      • Support in managing Corporate Affairs network across the EUCAN countries including virtual and face to face meetings, best practice sharing, improving ways of working and achieving optimum alignment, consistency and efficiency across the region.

      Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

      Essential for the role:

      • Proven experience in Corporate Affairs, Public Affairs, Communications and/or Government Affairs/Public Policy, preferably in the healthcare/pharmaceutical sector (e.g. industry, agency, trade association, government/public sector, patient organisations).

      • Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present complex ideas clearly for non-expert audiences.

      • Strong business acumen, project management and organisational skills.

      • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse and geographically dispersed team and across functions, including in the absence of direct reporting relationships.

      • Ability to understand and influence issues and decision-makers in complicated and complex situations and create shared agendas.

      • Problem solving – ability to resolve conflict and deal with a wide range of complex problems independently.

      • Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovation in strategy and execution, finding the right balance in working strategically and operationally, ability to work well under pressure and enjoys a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment.

      • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communications skills.

      Desirable for the role:

      • Strong track record in delivering impactful internal and external communications strategies.

      • Understanding and appreciation of political environment, policy issues and governments in Europe.

      • At least one other European language a plus.
