      What’s the Opportunity?

      This Senior Manager, Operational Risk helps in the identification, measurement and management of Operational risks within the Commercial Banking segment, and implements programs and business processes to minimize risk. You will ensure that internal control activities are operating in an effective manner resulting in ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will provide counsel to senior management, enhancing their ability to anticipate and manage operational risks effectively. You will ensure the adequacy of the control environment within Commercial Banking and the identification and design of appropriate controls to mitigate risk.

      What will you do?

      • Along with the Director, Operational Risk, this role is responsible to ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable Operational Risk policies, standards, and procedures.
      • This role has first line of defense responsibilities for operational risk, responsible to assist Commercial Banking in identifying and mitigating operational risk.
      • Ongoing support of key stakeholder and participation in the end-to-end product risk assessment process in line with PRRA1 requirements
      • Along with the Director, Operational Risk, provides guidance and concurrence for the completion of project/initiative change risk assessments, identify opportunities for control optimization, and assists with determining the materiality of risk and impact to the business’ operational risk profile.
      • Proactively identify opportunities to perform targeted Process Risk and Control Self Assessments (PRCSA) in accordance with RBC’s Enterprise Operational Risk Management Framework.
      • Responsible to ensure compliance with the applicable Operational Risk policies, standards, and procedures.
      • Ensure the effective implementation and execution of Operational Risk programs in Commercial Banking.
      • Maintain relationships and review, understand and action in a timely manner issues and trends highlighted in risk, governance, and control reporting.
      • Support a strong culture of risk and integrity through effective challenge and deep partnerships to promote transparency of risks and matters requiring escalation.

      What you need to succeed?

      Must- have:

      • Strong understanding and experience in Operational Risk Management
      • 5+ years in the financial services industry implementing risk management practices
      • A strong understanding of the Commercial Banking business. Previous experience in Operations an asset.
      • Good presentation and communication skills (verbal and written)
      • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking with a proven ability to source, analyze and summarize transactional and financial data to provide risk insights.
      • Experience working in a complex, matrix environment and proactively managing a diverse set of stakeholders.
      • Teamwork & Cooperation – ability to build partnerships with stakeholders, adaptability and relationship building within a hybrid environment

      Nice-to-have:

      • University degree, or equivalent
      • Project Management or Consulting experience
