- Responsible for setting the strategic direction for the organization, building and implementing a vision and effectively communicating direction to team members
- Set and measure goals and lead change management to achieve objectives
- Lead and guide a team of trade compliance specialists to ensure overall team cohesion and direction
- Partner with trade, logistics, legal business, site level and cross functional leadership teams and personnel to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations while meeting business objectives
- Manage trade-related activities leading to United’s ongoing compliance with U.S. and foreign laws and regulations
- Lead and direct the implementation of the trade compliance program across business units and suppliers to ensure compliance with import/export regulations, as well as handling and implementing continuous developments and enhancements
- Assist with cross-functional projects related to trade compliance transactions
- Review changes to US and foreign regulations to ensure that internal import compliance policies remain up to date and communicate any changes to relevant collaborators
- Serve as the point of contact for governmental agencies on matters related to import/export compliance programs
- Support the Director of Trade Compliance with any investigation into import/export or trade compliance issues, advise United’s senior officers and Legal Counsel, and assist with the preparation of voluntary self-disclosures
- Coordinate and assist the internal audit of United’s import compliance policies and procedures to maintain compliance with the latest applicable laws and regulations
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the import/export management and compliance program through periodic self-assessments
- Identify gaps with import compliance manual, recommend and implement improvements
- Support the Jurisdiction/Classification of products under Schedule B/Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Denied Party Screening
- Evaluate, identify, justify, obtain, and manage a system of records contributing to United’s database management
- Organize, update, and provide trade compliance training and maintain training records regarding the same
- Prepare annual reports as required by the U.S. Government
- Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Global Supply Chain Management, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 7+ years managing trade compliance programs or equivalent experience in trade compliance management or related areas
- Knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, the EAR, the ITAR, Office of Foreign Assets Controls (OFAC) laws, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)
- Direct experience with U.S. import/export regulations and electronic licensing processes
- Ability to become a Customs Broker License (LCB) (may be required within ~18 months of hiring)
- Strong leadership, management, coaching and communication skills
- Solution-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and improvement focused
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 35% as needed
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
- Master's degree
- 5+ years leading trade compliance programs and trade compliance specialists
- Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) or Certified U.S. Import Compliance Officer (CUSICO) certification
- Data analytics, e.g., SQL, dashboarding
- Advanced MS Office

Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager of Trade Compliance oversees a team of trade compliance specialists within Technical Operations and is responsible for the oversight and management of trade-related activities and classification/clearance of goods, leading to United’s compliance with US and foreign laws and regulations. The Senior Manager of Trade Compliance has oversight of all activities relating to regulatory awareness, implementation of controls and monitoring, audit of regulatory systems and reporting, and oversight of training. This leader is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the team, setting goals, and working with team members to advance initiatives that improve trade compliance. The Senior Manager works with internal business partners and suppliers to provide operational guidance and ensure compliance with trade compliance systems.
