What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Lead small teams in conducting policy research and data analysis for recovery planning and grant application development
- Manage grants in alignment with federal policy requirements and best practices
- Develop hazard mitigation and long-term recovery strategies, including grant funding roadmaps
- Create first drafts of written products and tools to aid in client project implementation
- Assist with business development activities, including proposal writing and marketing support
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Public and/or Environmental Justice or Policy, Economics, or a similar field
- 5+ years of experience in research, data analysis, technical writing, and developing policies or plans
- 5+ years of experience with FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) applications and administration
- Must be able and willing to travel domestically as needed
- Valid U.S. driver's license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's degree in Planning, Public and/or Environmental Policy, Economics, or a similar field
- Experience with natural hazard resilience concepts and risk assessments
- Familiarity with FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs
- Grant writing or management experience for infrastructure or housing projects
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
