      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident, enthusiastic and motivated nurse, with established immunisation experience, to join our friendly team in the Occupational Health Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

      We are looking for a dynamic individual to have responsibility for the leadership, coordination and delivery of LTHT Occupational Health immunisations. Ensuring the organisation complies with UKSHAs national principles, practices and procedures for occupational immunisations.

      Main duties of the job

      Working as an integral part of the Occupational Health team, the post will:

      Co-ordinate the safe and efficient delivery of all LTHT Occupational Health vaccination programmes, catch up campaigns and outbreak response programmes.

      Ensure all staff administering immunisations, both permanent and bank staff are appropriately trained and maintain consistently excellent standards of clinical practice.

      Act as a source for expert immunisation knowledge and information within LTHT.

      Depending on previous experience or the undertaking of further training this position may offer an opportunity to undertake additional roles within the Occupational Health department to meet service needs commensurate to the grade.

      The Occupational Health Team is a multi-disciplinary one, comprising of a Consultant/Clinical Lead, a speciality doctor in Occupational Health, an Occupational Therapist, Band 8a Senior Nurse, Band 7 Specialist Nurse Practitioners, Band 5 Nurse Advisors, an Occupational Health Technician, a sessional Psychiatrist and a Clinical Psychologist alongside an extremely supportive administrative team.

      Job responsibilities

      Working within LTHT Occupational Health department the post holder will:

      Have responsibility for the leadership, coordination and delivery of LTHT Occupational Health immunisations. Ensuring the organisation complies with UKSHAs national principles, practices and procedures for occupational immunisations.

      Co-ordinate the safe and efficient delivery of the LTHT Winter Vaccination campaign, as required catch up campaigns and outbreak response programmes.

      Work within the Occupational Health Team to provide health promotion and support around immunisations to LTHT employees.

      Support the embedding of effective governance arrangements and ensuring adherence to these.

      Ensure all staff administering immunisations, both permanent and bank staff, maintain consistently excellent standards of clinical practice

      Organise and deliver training programmes for Occupational Health nurses and support staff, covering theory and practice of safe vaccine administration including co-ordinating all new starter training which will include induction, training competencies and annual updates in accordance with the National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Immunisation Training for registered Healthcare Practitioners.

      Act as a source for expert immunisation knowledge and information within LTHT.

      Oversee the ordering, storage and transport of vaccines, maintenance of immunisation equipment and provision of required resources.

      Be responsible for the development/updating of processes, policy, procedures including immunisation protocols, written instructions and patient group directives.

      Contribute to managing the administrative and financial aspects of Occupational Health immunisations, ensuring cost effective use of all resources.

      Depending on previous experience or the undertaking of further training this position may offer an opportunity to undertake additional roles within the Occupational Health department to meet service needs.
