      Job summary

      We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team and work as part of our well-established and friendly team at Cotswold Chine School following a trauma informed approach. The role will involve delivering the Occupational Therapy process of assessment, intervention, and evaluation with reference to evidenced informed practice. The role will also involve line management skills including conducting clinical supervisions, preceptorship programs and appraisals with identified Occupational Therapists. The role also includes completing analysis and auditing of therapy progress and outcomes for the children and to be able to confidently share this within professional meetings. In addition, a strong focus will be on implementing sensory regulation strategies working within a trauma informed and attachment focused model of approach.

      It is essential that you are able to work within a team and can evidence your excellent communication skills with the ability to autonomously manage your own caseload. It is essential that the candidate is able to demonstrate experience of working as a qualified Occupational Therapist and is able to demonstrate ways in which they have mentored or coached others to support their professional development. You must be able to demonstrate evidence of core Occupational Therapy skills and be registered with the Health Care Professions Council.

      Main duties of the job

      Key Responsibilities for this role:

      The role would include occupational therapy assessment, interventions and creating therapeutic support plans and goals for the children and residents.

      To hold line management responsibilities including conducting supervisions and appraisals with identified Occupational Therapists.

      To be able to play an active role in completing analysis and auditing of therapy progress and outcomes for the children and residents and be able to confidently share this within professional meetings.

      To attend multidisciplinary team meetings as required and be able to share progress and feedback for the children and residents, utilising clinical reasoning skills.

      About us

      Novalis Trust, is a charity that supports children and adults with Neurodevelopmental Difficulties and other learning needs. The role would include opportunities to support the children with achieving their therapy goals within areas such as sensory, physical, emotional literacy, emotional regulation, and independent living skills.

      There is an established clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust, which consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Drama Therapist, Social Workers, and Psychotherapist. There are regular clinical and therapy team meetings to discuss, share and track progress within the individuals therapy and to document outcomes of therapeutic interventions. This post will provide opportunities to develop your professional skills whilst being supported through working in an established team of experienced therapists.

      To be able to work as an autonomous Occupational Therapist including managing own caseload and providing Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention for children and residents as required. This includes prioritising needs and completing administration tasks.

      To be able to follow the Occupational Therapy process including delivering standardised and non-standardised assessments, interventions, and evaluation with the children and residents.

      To be able to advise on specialist equipment and domestic and workplace environmental alternations.

      To write records and reports and ensure that the database is kept up to date in a timely manner.
