      Senior Organisational Development (EDI) Advisor - Ref: RT08223

      £36,298 - £41,496 per annum

      THIS IS AN INTERNAL VACANCY OPEN TO WALSALL COUNCIL EMPLOYEES ONLY.

      2023 has seen the creation of a new and exciting Organisational Development (OD) team, who will be embedding a strategy for OD based on collective leadership, staff engagement, health and wellbeing and equality, diversity and inclusion.

      What is the main purpose of the role?

      To champion Walsall Council's OD and Workforce strategies and support on any EDI objectives and actions that impact on employees across all levels of the organisation, to support any further development and with the continuing evolution of these strategies.

      To support the Head of OD and OD Business Partner to embed the values, behaviours and culture to ensure that Walsall Council is an employer of choice, with engaged, diverse and effective employees who work collaboratively and deliver high quality services.

      What will you be doing?

      You will champion equality, diversity, and inclusion for all employees across the organisation, supporting and leading on Council wide EDI initiatives that impact positively on employees and promote best practice. You will work with managers at all levels across the organisation to support, promote and shape EDI actions and lead on the training and development of the equality champions and coordinate network activity across the organisation. There will be a need to look outside the organisation to identify best practice innovations that can be brought back to the Council. You will also need to be confident in the delivery of EDI specific training and the presenting data and information to a wide variety of audiences.

      About you

      We are looking for someone with a passion for equality, diversity, and inclusion, who will champion, be innovative and lead on initiatives across the Council. You will need to be able to connect with people, have good influencing skills and be confident to challenge unconscious bias. We want someone that is capable of enthusing an audience and delivering training or leading network groups or workshops, keeping everyone engaged in the process, deal with any concerns and challenge negative language or behaviours. You will need to be comfortable working with managers to provide advice and be able to collaborate with Service Areas across the Council.

      Good Microsoft Office skills are essential, as you will be frequently using the full range of applications, either for presentation purposes, accessing EDI data or writing reports.
