- To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from Team Leader is available.
- To be responsible for undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and to be professionally and legally accountable of all aspects of own work, including themanagement of patients in own care.
- To ensure effective communication (verbal and written) with professionals, non-professionals and patients regarding patient treatment, the physiotherapy service and education. This includes written and oral presentations.
- To take delegated responsibility from a Team Leader or Clinical lead for managing patients with particular conditions and be responsible for providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment plans for patients with these conditions within each rotation.
- To be responsible for organising and planning own caseload to meet service and patient priorities.
- To be responsible for assessing and managing risk in varying clinical environments.
- To follow Trust policy and clinical guidelines and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) guidelines and to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards. Monitors own quality of practice as appropriate.
- Graduate Diploma or BSc Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification recognised by HCPC
- HCPC registration
- Minimum 18 months experience as staff grade physiotherapist
- Appropriate experience as a qualified physiotherapist
- Previous care experience
- Core rotations in a range of areas: o Respiratory (including HDU/ICU) o Orthopaedics o Musculoskeletal Outpatients o Neurological Rehabilitation
- Experience working as part of multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work as an autonomous clinician, managing own caseload, time, using clinical reasoning and analytical skills to perform appropriate assessment, identify problems/ diagnoses
- Member of Charted Society of Physiotherapy or similar
- Significant experience as a staff grade physiotherapist
- Active collection of relevant CPD in portfolio
- High level of clinical reasoning with excellent theoretical knowledge underpinning practice
- Demonstrate a good awareness of needs of patient and appropriate action to take
- Demonstrate awareness of the roles of others in providing patient care and ability to work as an effective team member
- Basic computer skills
- Well developed theoretical knowledge underpinning physiotherapy practice
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good analytical, problem solving and clinical reasoning skills
- Knowledge and experience in hospital computer system
- Ability to communicate within difficult circumstances and demonstrate empathetic approach to patients
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), analytical, problem solving skills and clinical reasoning
- Understanding of national issues and relating them to own clinical practice
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to support others and needs of the service
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to show initiative but understanding when to refer to trained staff

Job summary
A vacancy has arisen for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our DME Therapy Team covering wards a range of medical wards at Arrowe Park Hospital.
The post holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in working in across DME and medical inpatient wards.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active Physiotherapist with post graduate experience in a range of core specialities including acute assessment, older persons assessment/frailty, respiratory and orthopaedics.
You should have excellent communication skills, be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical reasoning skills and be able to case manage patients with complex needs. Experience supporting students and junior staff is essential.
You will have professional support for your CPD from Team Leaders and Clinical Lead Therapists from a range of clinical specialities as required.
