      Job summary

We are a progressive and welcoming team, offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic podiatrist to grow and develop as a Band 5 or Band 6 podiatrist, depending on experience.

For those at Band 6 level, this role provides a fantastic opportunity to join our Conwy and Denbighshire team. The successful candidate will receive support from our specialist podiatrists and have access to professional development opportunities. Depending on their interests, there is scope to specialise in areas such as nail surgery, biomechanics, and the management of diabetic and vascular foot ulcers.

Additionally, we offer an innovative and exciting pathway for newly qualified podiatrists. Our dynamic team will support the successful candidate in progressing from a Band 5 to a Band 6 podiatrist through a structured framework of knowledge and skills development. This role provides hands-on experience across all aspects of podiatry, with opportunities to specialise in a chosen area of interest as they advance to Band 6.

      Main duties of the job

      1. You will work as an autonomous practitioner, being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work including management of all service users in your care.
      1. To make appropriate judgements on and be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of podiatric care of your patient caseload. These will predominately be service users with complex medical and clinical needs including:
      • Diabetes
      • Chronic neuropathy
      • Chronic disease
      • Rheumatoid arthritis
      • Vascular insufficiency
      • Wound management/tissue viability
      • Terminally ill service users
      1. Care will be provided in a range of primary and secondary care settings, the majority of which will be in isolation, without the support of podiatry colleagues, working as a single handed practitioner. Supervision will be largely self driven through attendance at departmental briefings and supervision meetings and through seeking the advice of peers.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
