- Take an active role in the Commercial Lines transformation project, supporting the development of the Blueprint Project and the subsequent BAU and projects that follow, especially in regard of the next generation of platforms, data, and modelling systems.
- Validate, maintain, and reconcile quote, exposure, and claims data, transforming it to be ready for analysis and modelling.
- Ensure data and pricing tasks are completed to appropriate standards and timelines; ensuring delivery drives profitable growth, enabled by ensuring high quality accurate outputs with creativity that elucidate the findings.
- Use external data to augment internal system data to find new commercial insights that will improve profitability.
- Create and execute pricing and underwriting reviews for profitable development of our Complex products, building robust models to support decision-making in pricing and underwriting.
- Be proactive in driving greater collaboration with underwriters, claims teams, and Finance to ensure comprehensive support across the business.
- Support the innovation in new processes and methods, including machine learning and open source coding languages, to support the expanding use of external data and the enhanced insights available from the data lake and take the lead to share best practice.
- Maintain suitable governance documentation of rating structures, risk models and similar to evidence appropriate approval process is undertaken.
- Interact effectively and build strong relationships with underwriters to work collaboratively on goals set.
- Develop the technical and software skills of more junior members and coach them to deliver their personal and business goals.
- Graduate calibre, preferably with specific education in mathematics, statistics or a related discipline, or qualified by virtue of work experience.
- Ability to grasp the significance and meaning of a range of technical and complex issues and communicate to more non-technical colleagues.
- Strong numeracy and reasoning skills supported by good programming skills e.g. SAS, R, Python, Databricks, PowerBI.
- Experience of actuarial software or open source solutions such as Emblem (or similar) an advantage.
- Strong analytical, presentational, and influencing skills with an ability to drive change and transform existing processes.
- Support the Pricing Manager to influence the decision-making culture toward that of a technical pricing-based strategy.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Self-motivated with a positive outlook. Able to interact with Senior Management.
- Experience of working within a team, collaborating with peers successfully to achieve the set goal.
- Deliver high quality outputs with well-reasoned recommendations that can be evidenced.
!*!As the Senior Pricing Analyst within the Commercial Pricing Team, you’ll be responsible for the build and management of the complex product rating emulators, leading on changes in production systems and testing accuracy. Reporting to the Commercial Pricing Manager, you’ll also be the principle in the development of pricing analysis and modelling, whilst looking to utilise data insight which includes external data and technology to drive data driven decisions to support the strategic plans of profitable growth. They will be expected to review models built by more junior analysts, present rating recommendations and seek to develop new processes, improving on existing practices.
