      Senior Procurement Specialist – Supply Chain Management Department

      Day Shift, Full Time

      Position Purpose:

      • This position prepares, interprets, and manages purchases for a broad variety of Saint Anthony Hospital requirements such as clinical items, medical/surgical products, laboratory products, radiology products, and non-medical goods and purchases.
      • Evaluates potential sources of merchandise/services, conducts price and market analyses, places orders according to best options available within procedural guidelines and institutional timeframes, and resolves problems between external customers (vendors) and internal customers.
      • Responsible for identifying appropriate methodologies for contracts including Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) agreements, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and any other best practice procurement methodology for supply purchases.
      • Prepares price/cost analyses for supply contracts, tracks and monitors contract changes, deliverables, and performance of vendors.
      • Negotiates supply contract terms and conditions, identifies potential liabilities or unfavorable terms, and recommends resolutions.
      • Ensures that all contracts adhere to applicable federal, state, and local mandates and that all analyses and reporting follow established Procurement Business Processes and Best Practice Methodologies.
      • Supports sustainability and supplier diversity initiatives in alignment with Saint Anthony Hospital’s ESG and DEI goals.

      Essential Functions:

      • Responsible for interaction with vendors to procure products and negotiate contract terms and conditions, including expert understanding of GPO contracts, while ensuring language is specific to Saint Anthony Hospital, Joint Commission requirements, and applicable federal guidelines (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, Safe Harbors Act).
      • Assess customers' needs, create, recommend, and utilize agreements/contracts best suited for customers' procurement needs.
      • Provide skilled assistance in the acquisition of goods or services to assigned customer departments.
      • Demonstrate clinical and technical procurement knowledge of all commodities/services pertinent to assigned service lines.
      • Ensure cost-effective and timely acquisitions, contracts, or other necessary processes are utilized.
      • Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned service areas.
      • Establish and/or maintain professional relationships with suppliers and sales representatives.
      • Participate as requested on Value Analysis Team and/or sub-teams.
      • Effectively utilize the capabilities of the Supply Chain Management System and ERP tools (e.g., Workday, Infor/Lawson, Oracle, McKesson/Paragon) to implement and control items purchased.
      • Research Group Purchasing Organization contracts and maintain contract compliance in the ERP item master.
      • Review industry publications and price lists to remain current on price trends and product innovations.
      • Generate targeted cost reductions and ensure proper financial certification and documentation.
      • Act as a central point of contact for related procurement issues and follow through to resolution.
      • Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring that services and goods are procured timely and at best value.
      • Maintain positive relationships with departments, offering support and ensuring open lines of communication.
      • Document and distribute all significant discussions and decisions.
      • Analyze data, simulate alternatives, recommend action, and deliver quality procurement outcomes.
      • Track and report on KPIs such as cost savings, supplier performance, contract compliance, and procurement cycle time.
      • Support value-based purchasing strategies and apply Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles.
      • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Clinical, and Finance departments during contract reviews and vendor selections.
      • Identify and mitigate risks by conducting supplier and market risk assessments.
      • Anticipate customer needs and provide regular and appropriate feedback.
      • Provide consistent and structured work plans, agendas, and outcome expectations.
      • Review, modify, and approve specifications; determine KPIs with input from stakeholders.
      • Ensure vendor compliance with volume rebates and contract terms; take corrective action if necessary.
      • Ensure adherence to The Joint Commission standards for Contracted Services (LD.4.03.09 and LD.3.50).
      • Conduct market analysis to identify pricing opportunities and present findings to the Chief Supply Chain Officer and/or Senior Leadership.
      • Support strategic sourcing initiatives to standardize products and improve pricing.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      General Job Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
      • Supply Chain Procurement Certification (preferred).
      • 1–3 years of procurement experience (required); 3–5 years (preferred).
      • Experience in procurement, contract negotiation, and proposal development (required).
      • Demonstrated ability to reduce costs and standardize products while identifying contractual liabilities (required).
      • Experience negotiating healthcare contracts for goods, services, and equipment (required).
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and facilitating RFP/contract processes (required).
      • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to interpret complex contract terms and identify opportunities for improvement (required).
      • Attention to detail and conflict management skills (required).
      • Strong decision-making and project management skills (required).
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP procurement systems (required).
      • Experience in healthcare supply chain environments (preferred).
      • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
      • Formal customer service training (preferred).
