      Overview:

As a Senior Product Designer on the M&T Digital Business Banking design team, you will assist in the design and planning of an end-to-end digital business experience. You’ll be partnering with multiple delivery teams to plan, design, execute, and deliver high quality user experience flows and user interface designs that meet and exceed business, product, and technical requirements. You’ll be both working within, and pushing the limitations, of a third-party solution to ensure we meet the enterprise’s goal of platform modernization. In addition, you will collaborate closely with peer Researchers and Designers within the design community to ensure consistency among our collective product experiences.

The M&T Digital team is a dedicated team of designers, developers, strategists, and leaders who believe in the transformative power of customer centricity. We believe that advocacy for the customer is key to building differentiated experiences. We lead by example — staying curious, doing the work, and challenging assumptions at every turn. We’re bold enough to believe that great design can exist at a bank, and that it can be a catalyst to bettering the lives of our customers and the communities we share with them. We seek to combine deep human understanding with the bank’s full suite of capabilities to provide personal, connected, and surprisingly simple banking experiences that help our customers achieve their financial goals.

      Primary Responsibilities:

      • Explore multiple user-centered design concepts through working sessions, wireframes and research study insights intended to gather end user feedback and use that input to continually improve the customer experience.
      • Work with product owners and developers to define functionality and end user requirements to meet desired outcomes.
      • Partner with developers to ensure their awareness of successful user experience standards and industry best practices.
      • Actively plan design-specific contributions to product team meetings, connecting design decisions and product direction to broader product / business line / enterprise vision.
      • Deeply understand the current state of design in digital products, understanding how design can influence business outcomes.
      • Plan and contribute to user/customer research in partnership with our Experience Research team, gaining empathy and understanding of the people who use our products, including goals, motivators, pain points, contexts, etc.
      • Lead through curiosity by asking well considered questions that seek to fully understand the problem we are solving, the context for which we are solving it, and how we will know we are successful.
      • Develop data informed design solutions at the appropriate fidelity using known methods and be able to present design work with appropriate context for your audience, justification for decisions, and openness to feedback.
      • Actively participate in goal setting, task planning, and executable activities that seek improvement of the team’s operational efficiency intended to create efficiencies in how we deliver as a collective design team.
      • Initiate, build, and deepen trusting relationships with teammates, business partners and key stakeholders.
      • Develop fluency and alignment with Currency Design System, enabling use, advocacy, and contribution.
      • Maintain great Figma Hygiene, keeping files organized, using naming conventions, contributing to, and complying with team Figma standards, etc.
      • Actively participate in larger Design Community and division meetings and events, creating compelling presentations and communications that elevates and promotes the team’s value to the overall business.
      • Complete other related duties as assigned.

      Education and Experience Required:

      • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction, or similar, and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years education and/or relevant product design work experience.
      • Background in the design/user experience field, preferably demonstrated through an online portfolio
      • Experience creating use cases, flow diagrams, prototypes, scenarios and wireframes in the context of product development
      • Hands-on experience of designing for a variety of digital touchpoints and non-digital channels
      • Experience supporting the full product development process, from vision to launch to iteration
      • Ability to mentor and educate others on the value and principles of good experience design
      • Team player who is comfortable navigating ambiguity within a self-directed culture
      • Ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders
      • Experience conducting remote and in-person workshops; strong familiarity with supporting tools such as Miro and Webex
      • Expertise in Figma
      • Experience creating, leveraging and/or implementing design systems
      • Demonstrable ability to create high quality visual and interaction design work in responsive applications
      • Proficiency in industry best practices for desktop, mobile and web applications
      • Experience with accessibility standards, cross-platform issues, mobile user interfaces and systems-thinking

      Education and Experience Preferred:

      • Preference given to candidates with 5+ years of relevant experience
      • Working in financial and/or heavily regulated enterprises
      • Working in Agile and/or Scrum environments, collaborating closely with product owners and developers
