What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite
- Analyze risk data to make informed decisions on coverage, pricing, and terms
- Collaborate with claims, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and clarify details
- Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and effectively to internal teams, agents, and brokers
- Develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers, focusing on generating new business and retaining profitable business
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Generally, 10+ years of casualty underwriting experience required
- Umbrella and Excess Casualty underwriting experience highly desired
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to build and leverage excellent customer relationships
- Position requires frequent day and overnight travel, more than 10% but less than 50% of the time
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in Lead Umbrella and Excess Liability underwriting
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating risk data and market trends
- Proven ability to organize and participate in marketing initiatives, including presentations and industry events
