What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Analyze, design, develop, and implement diverse application systems
- Gather requirements, design solutions, and maintain complex database environments
- Debug and document systems while providing technical advice to management and business staff
- Support MaineDOT's in-house developed financial system and other legacy applications
- Mentor junior staff and interact with end-users to translate business requirements into technical tasks
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Four (4) years of computer programming experience with higher-level languages, including two (2) years at the Programmer Analyst level, or a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with two (2) years at the Programmer Analyst level
- Knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle and project development cycle
- Experience with Oracle PL/SQL, Microsoft C#, .NET framework, and SQL
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively
- Ability to communicate complex technical solutions clearly in both oral and written forms
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with JSON, RESTful Web services, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Angular 2
- Familiarity with SQL Server Database and SaaS design patterns
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies and practices
- Experience in mentoring junior staff members
- Ability to design, conduct, and evaluate system testing
