  Position: Senior Scientist, Computational Genomics (ref. #4184)

  Location: 700 Bay Rd, Redwood City, CA, 94063

  Duties: Use experience with: statistics, machine learning and deep learning applications; bioinformatics applications used in data processing of sequencing data; computer infrastructure management; human cancer tissue analysis; single cell analytics; and working on collaborative projects to research scholarly publications, develop and establish best practices for various RNASeq and DNA QC workflows and develop methodology to identify biomarkers. Facilitate generation of hypotheses and validate mechanistic hypotheses for the mechanism of action of drug compounds, and stratification of patient populations. Communicate NGS QC best practices across all relevant teams. Design informatics experiments and advise laboratory scientists on the specifics of preclinical experiments and clinical trial design to evaluate new computational analysis and biological interpretation methodologies. Analyze data generated from pilot studies, using either new technologies, or validate ne vendors and compare with golden standard to ensure high level of reproducibility, and evaluate their applicability to discovery or clinical settings.

  May supervise up to 3 employees in the positions of Scientist or Associate Scientist. May telecommute 50% of time from any US location.

  Requirements: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in bioinformatics or a related field plus 5 years of post-baccalaureate experience reflecting demonstrable ability in the skill set described above.

  The starting compensation for this job is a range from $152,506 to $164,364 per year, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation is decided based on demonstrated experience.
