- Develop early and late phase purification processes for biotherapeutics manufacturing
- Technology development to reduce the cost and improve the efficiency of purification processes
- Transfer processes to clinical and commercial manufacturing facilities
- Drive technology development projects
- Participation in process and technology development teams
- Technical document authoring including regulatory documents
- Mentor and manage junior staff (1-3 direct reports)
- BS degree in Engineering, Biochemistry or related field and 15+ years of experience, MS with 7+ years of experience or PhD with 4+ years of experience. Applicants with more years of relevant experience may also be considered and job title would be adjusted to reflect experience.
- Knowledgeable in chromatography and filtration theory, downstream development, and scale-up strategy
- Experience with chromatography operations including using Akta systems
- Experience with filtration operation including executing bench-scale dead-end filtration, viral filtration, and UF/DF
- Comfort with being functional area lead on project teams
- Comfort with being project team lead for client projects or technical lead for interdisciplinary initiatives
- Excellent experimental design and analysis skills
- Desire to work in a fast, collaborative, and team-oriented environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and analysis using statistical software packages (JMP, MATLAB, etc.)
- Experience with automation method development and operation using robotic liquid handling systems and high throughput chromatography resin screening
- Experience with multi column chromatography
- Experience with process modeling and chromatography mechanistic modeling
- Experience with early & late-stage regulatory filing
- Experience in participating in CMC and other cross functional teams

Just is seeking a motivated and creative scientist or engineer who desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. As a downstream design scientist/engineer, you will join a fast-paced, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team to develop purification processes for low-cost biotherapeutic manufacturing. Process design at Just-Evotec means exposure to innovative technologies like high throughput automated robotic screening and continuous processing technologies for a first-of-its-kind flexible and configurable manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will have experience in chromatography and filtration theory and operations. Experience with high throughput chromatography screening, chromatography mechanistic modeling, multicolumn chromatography, process modeling and produces characterization is a plus. The ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communications skills, works well independently and in teams, and continually looks for ways to improve processes and technology.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $125,000 to $150,000; Base salary offered may vary depending on individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value.
