- Design and implement a robust server-side system architecture in a public cloud environment.
- Contribute to critical system design decisions affecting device and client software.
- Mentor team members and promote knowledge sharing across the organization.
- Work closely with other engineers and cross-functional teams to plan and build.
- Document architectural designs and key decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance with medical software standards and regulations.
- Follow coding best practices to create and maintain reproducible, clear, and highly documented code.
- Extensive experience in building cloud systems, with a focus on Azure.
- Experience in writing production-quality applications in Python.
- Proficiency in designing data pipelines, databases, application servers, and storage solutions, with a focus on time-series datasets.
- Understanding of the end-to-end software lifecycle for medical data products, having shipped multiple items to production.
- Experience working in compliance with HIPAA, including handling Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy best practices, with practical application experience.
- Familiarity with medical sensor data, time series data, and/or brain data.
- Experience working with modern ML and Data Science techniques.
- Experience implementing cloud DevOps practices, including CI/CD and environment configuration.

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Backend Software Architect to join our growing team. This person will plan and build the server-side components of a complex connected medical device, applying expertise across systems engineering, data engineering, APIs, databases, AI model development, cryptography, security, and related areas. Much of the cloud implementation will be greenfield development. This is a non-management role with the potential for expanded responsibilities as our product and team evolve.
