      An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) at Charing Cross Hospital.

      As a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse you will be part of the ward leadership team and will lead, support and grow a team of nurses & HCAs to deliver excellent care for patients experiencing stroke. You will represent the Imperial stroke service and deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence.

      Main duties of the job

      • The assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for adults in their care.
      • The post holder will use specialist knowledge and competence gained through post registration courses in caring for adults.
      • Will be expected to supervise junior staff and to teach qualified and unqualified staff.
      • In the absence of the Ward Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the safe running of the ward on a shift by shift basis and will act as a deputy representing the Ward Manager in their absence.
      • Support the Ward Manager to deliver safe and effective care, ensuring adequate staffing levels including skill mix and patient ratios.
      • Support the flow of patients through the stroke pathway, promoting efficiency with 4 hour DTA and SSNAP targets and liaising with referring hospitals to repatriate patients to their local SU within agreed timeframes.
      • Contribute to ward development plans, including participation in ward accreditation and Pathway to Excellence activities.
